BLAME SOMEBODY ELSE

Drug abusers have discovered OxyContin, a powerful painkiller that they
crush and then snort or inject. It produces "a quick, heroin-like high,"
according to an Associated Press story the other day.

Abuse of OxyContin has caused at least 100 deaths nationwide, and there
have been other cases of overdose.

So, what is the reaction to this? Sue the manufacturer, of course.

Ira Branham, a state legislator from Kentucky who also just happens to be a
lawyer, has filed suit on behalf of three people and the estate of a dead
woman. Responsibility for their problems, he said, should "fall on the
shoulders of the company that was the genesis of this problem."

We suppose by now we shouldn't be surprised. Individual responsibility
seems to be a thing of the past. If you do something wrong and get hurt,
you should blame somebody else, preferably somebody with enough money to
make a lawsuit worthwhile.
