INCOMING DEA HEAD CALLS FOR REHABILITATION
On the same day his nomination to be head of the Drug Enforcement
Administration was confirmed 98-1 by the Senate, Rep. Asa Hutchinson,
R-Ark., said Wednesday in Los Angeles that the federal government should
offer more drug-rehabilitation programs.
Hutchinson said he thought it was ``unconscionable'' that so many drug
offenders were serving time in prison while limited rehabilitation programs
exist to help keep them off drugs once they get out.
Hutchinson said he would seek additional funding for such programs.
