HEALTH CARE SYSTEM WOULD BENEFIT BY A BIG FATTIE, EH
The Editor,
Help, our health care is in a mess and we need a huge infusion of money
unless we want to go down that two-tiered road like our neighbours to the
south. But wait ... we're Canadian and we don't want to do that.
I have friends and family who have gone south of the border to practise
medicine and money was not the only issue in making this decision. They
have families and wanted better working conditions and to be able to spend
more time with their families. As practitioners and patients they are well
looked after, it's not as scary as we think. But we're Canadian!
Well, let's be Canadian, eh. Most of us feel using tax money to fight the
war on drugs is not exactly working the way we had hoped. So let's legalize
marijuana, put in the liquor stores and tax it the same way. It's time to
make some changes, we need the money. When the B.C. Marijuana Party had a
candidate in every riding doesn't that tell us something, or does anyone
remember Prohibition? Oh and yes I know about the evils of alcohol and
drugs. Moderation in life is key and let's face it - you can be addicted to
just about anything.
So let's be Canadian and lead the way to creating a new industry to
generate some more tax dollars for our beleaguered health care system.
