SUPPORT REAMS
Thank you for your Aug. 13 article on the Gary Reams campaign
["Candidate pushes his `reeferendum'"]. It's about time someone took
the legalization issue seriously.
I'm glad Reams is running and publicizing this huge drain on our way
of life.
This isn't rocket science, it's social science. The studies all say we
should legalize pot - but the politicos just don't seem to hear the
message. As a parent and a taxpayer, I would rather see marijuana for
sale in state stores than in our schools. Don't our over-burdened
educators have enough to do without adding drug control.
We have made dealing drugs more profitable than starting up a dot-com
and dealers aren't paying taxes nor do they need a college education
to set up and ply their trade.
I am going to vote for Reams. Fresh thinkers like Reams should be
encouraged to address other problems that face the commonwealth. If
Reams takes office in Richmond, Virginia will become the envy of the
nation.
Congratulations to The Daily Journal for covering this issue, despite
the fact the major party candidates won't discuss it. Hopefully we
will hear more from the Reams team.

Dale City
