EASY FIXES

Victoria -- I am happy to read that my hard-earned tax dollars may be
going to support heroin addicts with government-supervised injection
sites (Studies Laud Safe-Injection Sites -- Aug. 21). One hopes they
also will have government-supervised housing and shopping trips to
the mall, all on the taxpayers' tab, of course.

Can it be long before we see that larger and equally addicted and
struggling subset, smokers, being provided -- at government expense,
of course -- safe smoking rooms and trips to corner stores to buy
cigarettes?
