$35 Million Found
BOGOTA, Colombia - In a joint U.S.-Colombian operation, police discovered
$35 million Saturday in two upscale apartments - possibly one of the
largest seizures ever of drug money.
Felix Chativa Carrasquillo, the owner of the apartments, was arrested early
Saturday, U.S. Customs spokesman Dean Boyd said. He was arrested on a
provisional warrant issued by the U.S. Customs Service and the Drug
Enforcement Administration.
Chativa was a major target of Operation Journey, an investigation that
involved 12 nations and resulted in the seizure of about 25 tons of cocaine
and 43 people.
