MEDICINE EFFECTIVE AT EASING PAIN

I really hate to see OxyContin get a bad rap (" 'Hillbilly heroin' taking
toll on Georgia," Metro, Aug. 19).

I was in so much pain after my operation last month. The doctor tried three
other types of medication for the back pain and then tried OxyContin. In an
hour, the pain was gone and I was on the road to recovery. I had a five-day
supply and didn't even know what it was, as I don't even take aspirin. But
it was great to quit writhing around in bed and finally get some much
needed sleep.

All the problems with OxyContin seem to be caused by people taking it
illegally. Isn't anyone responsible for their own actions anymore? All I
can say is thank the good Lord something was available when I needed it.
When pain is unbearable for you or your loved ones, you will change your
tune real quick.
