JURY INDICTS MOTORIST IN FATAL COLLISION
PRINEVILLE - A 20-year-old woman was being held on a manslaughter charge
after the car she was driving rear-ended a car carrying three teen-agers,
killing a 16-year-old passenger.
Kelle Elizabeth Gerard, 20, was indicted by a Crook County grand jury
Friday and was being held on $50,000 bail. She was also charged with
assault and driving under the influence of marijuana on the night of the
May 11 accident.
Gerard was allegedly intoxicated from marijuana when she hit the car
carrying the teen-agers at 50 mph, according to an indictment. She had her
14-month-old son with her.
Lacey Barnhouse was pronounced dead at the scene. Rachel Dunaway said she
was unconscious for eight days and spent 25 days in the hospital.
Lindsay Jones and Gerard and her son were not seriously injured.
Gerard was scheduled for a release hearing Aug. 28.
