WHY THIS FIXATION WITH KNIVES, GUNS?
I have a concern about all these younger adults in our Queen City. Almost
every time you turn around you hear about a stabbing or shooting involving
a younger adult. This is crazy!
I graduated in the 1980s, and back then if there was a fight, nobody
brought a knife or a gun. It was fist to fist, the way it should be if
there is an altercation. I am not promoting any kind of fighting. However,
why do some of these younger adults have to use weapons? Are they that
insecure or just ignorant wimps?
If parents would discipline and teach them to respect authority (as the
baby boomers taught our generation), we would not have this problem that
goes nation-wide.
I lost a dear friend four years ago to a 19-year-old who used a knife to
win a fight. Here's the kicker: This young man has already been paroled and
is now back in prison for another incident. I ask you, is this right? No.
You can sell a pound of marijuana and get 20 years. However, you can stab
someone and get out in three years. Something has got to change in our
legal system so these people are scared to break the law.
