INFORMANTS ARE BRIBED TO TALK
The recent story "Informant's address causing confusion" is similar
in one respect to many court cases and is so prevalent that it is
routine on police TV shows. Informants, particularly in drug cases,
are induced to testify against someone (anyone) to get the charges in
their cases reduced. This is nothing short of bribing a witness to
testify. Is the testimony true? Would you lie to avoid a few more
years in jail?
Bribery is a crime. Bribing a witness to convict someone is a crime.
When are we going to hold district attorneys to the same level of
ethical and criminal law that everyone else must follow?
Personally, if I were on the jury in this case, I wouldn't believe a
word of testimony presented by the prosecution since those involved
are criminals, too.
