USING HEMP IN AUTO INDUSTRY ISN'T NEW CONCEPT
Thank you for the Aug. 31 letter, "Hey dude! Do you wanna help me smoke my
car?"
The concept of utilizing hemp for car parts is not new. Further, hemp has
implications for home building products, paper, clothing, medicine - far
too many items to list on this page.
In "The Great Book of Hemp" by Rowan Robinson, there is a picture of Henry
Ford striking one of his early automobiles with a hammer to demonstrate its
resiliency. He not only built this car from hemp resins but also ran it on
hemp seed oil.
Now Germany has started doing what America has prohibited: growing hemp
resins for the manufacture of auto parts, among other things. According to
Jack Herer's "The Emperor Wears No Clothes," the diesel engine originally
was designed to run specifically on hemp seed oil.
The New Haven (Conn.) Register published a story July 6, "Car fueled by
hemp oil on real trip," about a 1985 Mercedes Turbo Diesel that is
traveling across the country running on hemp seed oil as part of a campaign
to increase awareness of the efficiency of biodiesel fuels. The trip will
cover 10,000 miles - perhaps the car will pass through your area.
If God gave us hemp, who gives us hemp prohibition? Could it in part be
those who profit from that prohibition and depend on it for job security,
along with citizens who just don't know the truth?
America, it is in God we trust, not prohibitionist politicians.
