REALISM ON DRUGS

To the editor:

Thank you for the article about debating the war on drugs. Debate and
realistic solutions to the drug problem are needed. Prohibition will never
work because it makes drugs incredibly profitable and it is these profits
which motivate the players. These lucrative drug profits corrupt or kill
all who get in the way of supply meeting demand. Prohibition attempts to
stop supply and demand from taking place but only postpones the inevitable.

In a free market society supply will meet demand no matter the cost or
obstruction. Making it more difficult for supply to meet demand drives up
the drug prices, making the drug market even more lucrative for those who
manage to supply the demand.
