DARE DRUG PROGRAM FOR KIDS IS WORTHWHILE

Although the DARE drug program might not have the impact that some would
hope for, it has two major features that make it worthwhile.

First, students are taught about drug abuse by someone who has first-hand
knowledge of the problem and its effects. Second, they learn that a police
officer is human and approachable, someone to listen to and go to for help.

One of my son's favorite parts of the DARE program was when the officer ate
in the cafeteria with them. Since drug education must be taught in today's
schools, I hope that DARE will continue to be used.
