POTHEADS SHOW TRUE COLORS

While concerts and sporting events across the country were cancelled in the
wake of last week's tragedy, the Massachusetts Cannabis Reform Coalition
went ahead with its marijuana legalization rally Saturday. Neither national
tragedy nor America in mourning will stay these potheads from their
appointed protest.

The coalition's annual "rallies" on Boston Common are an excuse for
juvenile burnouts to flaunt the drug laws and listen to the barely coherent
harangues of rock station personalities. The closing of Logan Airport
prevented actor Woody Harrelson - another Hollywood deep thinker - from
making an appearance for his favorite cause.

"I'm happy we went on with it," said Bill Downing, the coalition's
president. "People are really getting tired of watching it (disaster
coverage)" - especially this crowd, with its notoriously short attention spans.

Besides, what's mourning for a few thousand dead Americans compared with an
opportunity to smoke a little weed and tell drug-war horror stories?
