LEGALIZING DRUG IS SAFER
Reading the Sept. 6 article, Ecstasy Risk a Matter of Debate, it struck me
that every point made for why using ecstasy is dangerous is not a direct
result of the drug itself. For example, it mentions that pills sold as
ecstasy often contain dangerous adulterants.
If the drug were legal and regulated, this danger would be removed. It
mentions increased chance of overheating or overhydrating -- both easily
avoided if ecstasy users are given real education about the drug's effects.
Finally, there's the worst danger off all: getting arrested and going to jail.
The prohibition of ecstasy is more harmful and dangerous than the drug.
