COMET GETS ADDITIONAL $145,000 FOR DRUG ERADICATION

Senator Jean Carnahan announced Monday that the Senate had approved
an additional $1.1 million in funding for the Missouri Drug
Eradication Initiative.

A special drug unit serving Dallas County is the top recipient of
funds from that appropriation.

The Combined Ozarks Mutli-jurisdictional Enforcement team (COMET)
will get an appropriation of $145,000, the greatest amount to any of
the 10 agencies included. The funds will buy equipment and help pay
overtime for the existing 11 task force members. COMET serves
Webster, Stone, Taney, Christian, Polk, Dallas, Cedar, Dade and
Greene Counties.
