SPECIAL TREATMENT

Betty Parker voiced my exact thoughts in her column, "Bower off the hook in
Gibbs case," Oct. 14. I don't think Joe Sixpack would have been called at
the movie theater. I also do not think Sixpack's daughter would have gotten
to go home with her parents. This is a joke. It's not what you know, it's
who you know in Cape Coral. This is no different from a car full of kids
that gets pulled over and a bag of pot is found in the car. Everyone gets
to go home, but they arrest a kid down the street for possession of the pot.

If Michael Hornung had not brought the facts to light, we, the public,
would have never known what happened. Comments were made that what Monique
Gibbs said could not be used in a court of law because she was not read her
rights. Why? Because she was the chief's daughter? As soon as the bag was
found, she should have been read her rights. Was the chief's car impounded?
Searched? Were the dogs brought to the scene?

Most parents would not have been called from the scene, but called instead
from the jail!
