Stephen Hawking led a normal childhood and teenage years, he only got disabled starting at 17... He had firm ground which to build on and a much more mature mindset to approach what happened to him.

No, it's not our place to decide whether she should live or die. It's her parents'. And they have made that choice. In this case, it's quite irrelevant how I'd make it if I was in their place.

She will see the world as everybody being completely different, and she WILL see herself as inferoir even if everyone around her is 100% supportive - think about it, she will always be less independent and less functional (if she is mentally undamaged that is, and if thats not the case then my point stands even more).

In Russia, where I'm from, kids like this were put to sleep immediately after birth, and it wasnt even a question. I've just asked my parents about this and my dad's father and sister are doctors.
