A former roommate of mine, traveler from outside Canada, went somewhat ballistic while living in my old house. Me and other roommates were witness to his progressive regression... first he was talking about some sort of revelations, seing colors, walls turning green... We thought he was either kidding around, or trying to fuck with us, or maybe at least having LDS flashbacks, but never expected it to go further. Next up, he imagined himself as a great teacher, tried to make some sort of deep points (while actually partially making sense and partially rambling on with a crazed glow in his eyes), tried to take people aside and whisper them some sort of truths. His behaviour grew further erratic, he started leaving notes around with scribbles which indicated a mess in his head but we still were not sure if he was just pulling a fast one or just going thru a weird phase in life. In the end, one other ex roommate of mine and the dude in question were driving and from what I hear he went completely crazy with one of his talks, almost made no sense at all, and started driving on the wrong side of the street (which wasnt small) just to make some sort of a point, which got him stopped by the cops and after some time put into a mental ward. I couldnt go see him right away, but people who did say he was totally out of it and not himself. I dont know what they gave him in the ward, but I saw him about a week later. He just seemed more down, more slouching, and reluctant to talk about the experience. It's almost as if he understood that he went temporarily crazy, but looking into his eyes I knew that down there he still believed at least some of all those convictions he was trying to proclaim (with a varying degree of success and/or coherence). In any case, his dad came to Canada to take him back to his country of origin, and I've heard from him a couple of times since. Apparently, he's been doing good and is stable in life. He has not talked about what happened.

One can only wonder what could be going through this guy's mind, and what still does...

Think twice before posting bullshit like that...

Looky what we got here, the almighty JizzBus came down to sort everyone out and to assert his opinion on everybody elses.

Dont tell me to think twice, birdboy... I've got my opinion on the subject and you got yours; for instance - although, as a friend, I've tried to help you numerous times with your failure-oriented mindset and appearance when it came down to dealing with women, I never called how you dress, talk or act 'bullshit', merely pointed out the potential reactions you may draw. You'd do well to extend me the same courtesy as I'm talking about real marriage, so please refrain from making references that have nothing to do with the subject.

Now to explain my point to any readers that may have misuderstood - to me, marriage is an institution to officialize procreation and having offspring - therefore (optimally anyway) if a girl and me decide to have kids together, we will go ahead and attempt it. If one of us is unable to have kids, it may mean many things. It may mean the other one (be it me or her) may want to have kids with somebody else, or that we would like to stay together as a couple but not get married, or that we might consider adopting instead. It may also mean lots of other potential outcomes and nuances. Now then, if we get married before even knowing if that issue exists, dealing with the outcome becomes a lot more complex, and options are far more limited. Why self-impose problems when you can find out ahead of time?

So, peenix, I think it is YOU who should think twice before posting bullshit.

P.S. For the sake of this thread's topic and in order not to be taken wrong, let me reiterate - I don't date. Getting married is indefinitely far on the horizon. However, theres several cuties on this site who I've had lots of fun with, and plenty others who I wouldnt mind showing a good time to.

ok, but my point about people being used to things as they are still stands... usability, especially when it comes to web forums, should definitely be a concern and for people who are used to hand pointers that way is more usable

which does not come in the way of the rollovers or vice versa

ask yourself this.. who disables JS? no one, that's who. people disable cookies, which i can understand.. which is why my site's not dependant on them at all.

ok, maybe not disabled, but wrong version, shitty implementation (oddball browsers), or even lack thereof (lynx) optimally should make a site perhaps less comfortable or advanced but still browse-able and functional at least when its main purpose is concerned. my question was, is yours? it wasnt a rhethorical question, i was actually asking.

if you design your site to be more than 800px wide, you're not reaching far enough..

i designed the site to work for people with more than a 15" monitor, and for people with computers that are not more than 6 years old. i don't think that's a very high requirement to view..

i've tested the site on 400mhz computers and it still runs fast.. i think that's something else.. :P

i somehow doubt JS takes that much comp speed, my secondary shit-comp is 392mhz (overclocled from 300), runs XP, systemworks 2k5 and most of the recent every-day hoopla and still renders most sites pretty fast.

my point wasnt so much about old computers or small screens (although that too) but rather odd configurations, browsersm operating systems, etc..

now then as long as your answer to my non-rhethorical question is YES, it would fulful its main functionality, then i have nothing to say against your schema.. when a site works exactly as intended for 90%+ of the viewers and STILL WORKS (altho it may be slower, uglier, etc) for the rest, its not so bad.

well this is the web not an app.. people are used to hand pointers and i dont see why they should be abolished, theyre a good indicator of an element's clickability

would you really want people to click all over the screen to see if something works?

js wise, im not gonna get into an argument.. but answer me this: would your main site functionalities (browsing acceleration and cosmetics aside) still work for someone with disabled js?

sure its tempting to make use of the client's computing power and it does decrease server load, but theres a fine line between real-time functionality plus improved handling capacity versus coherency of your site's presentation independently of the user who's browsing it. i guess it depends on your target viewers more than anything, but regardless of what it is, i for one would like as many people to see and use my shit in the form it was intented as possible...

looks good, loads fast... nice job

most links mouse pointer doesnt turn into the 'clickable' one - may wanna look into that... it will throw some people into shock thinking your site is a screenshot - mark my words hehe

too many generated threads, i know theyre prolly all going at launch but at least mark em down for beta viewers lol

possibly overly js-reliant..? as a developer i always had beef with code that runs on client side

anyway that was the only criticism i could come up with, its actually pretty cool
