If you are running the 64 bit Vista you should definitely put in the extra 2 gigs, it's pretty much the only reason to run 4gb on a home pc.

I've got 64 bit Vista with 4gb ram for 2 weeks now and I cant complain. It is indeed very fast. Once you've set it up and have disabled a lot of the notifications there's absolutely no problem.
