STEREO NIGHTCLUB: The Party Will Go on!

Montreal’s Stereo Nightclub was victim to a small fire, although minimal damage was made in the early hours of Tuesday 1st September. Stereo was scheduled to launch an extravagant five-day reopening during this Labor Day Weekend starting Thursday 3rd September – Monday 7th September.

Stereo owner Tommy Piscardeli commented, “I’m not even angry. Something bad happened here, but something good is going to come out of it.” Piscardeli’s partner and Stereo co-owner Mike Rein added, “we have a plan and a vision for Stereo, and nothing is going to stop us from achieving what we have set out to accomplish.”

Angel Moraes, one of the originators of Stereo was set to kick start the festivities on Thursday September 3rd, as part of a very special media VIP industry night, which unfortunately had to been cancelled. Moraes added, “Stereo has become a home for DJ's and clubbers here in Montreal and from around the world who love this place very much, regardless of what's happened in the last few days you CANNOT break down that love or spirit. We will prevail and Stereo will be as it always has been, one of the best clubbing experiences one could ever have. Thanks to everyone for their love and support. WE’RE ALMOST HOME”.

Hector Romero who is and has been one of Stereo’s resident artists for the past several years commented, “I consider Stereo my home and when I heard the news about the fire it truly affected me. The Montreal clubbing community wants and needs Stereo in their lives – and now more than ever! And the haters can’t stop them from dancing – ‘cause Music is The Key!"

Over one hundred volunteers showed up on Tuesday & Wednesday night, working around the clock, to help with the clean up of Stereo, proving how this legendary nightclub still stands as a Mecca to clubbing fans all over the world. †The Commercial Development Society (SDC) of Montreal’s Village along with the city’s Tourism Board, the office of the Mayor of Montreal, Montreal’s Chief of Police and Fire Department; are conscientious about the current situation and, together have all agreed to hold a formal meeting with Stereo’s team next week (Friday, September 11th) to discuss long term solutions for the efficient operation of Stereo as well as the success of this world class institution.

Grammy Award winner, Sharam from Deep Dish was scheduled to showcase Stereo’s new live staged set-up, Tonight - Friday September 4th, with his infamous “Get Wild Live Show” with midget cowboys and Get Wild dancers, which also featured vocalist Anousheh Khalili, as well as additional support from Sultan and Ned Shepard. Although this event has been cancelled, it will be a show not to be missed. Additional information concerning the possible rescheduling of this event along with instructions for current event ticket holders will be released promptly during the day on by end of today on Friday, September 4th.

The highly anticipated “Stereo Saturday’s” event on September 5th, will also go ahead as planned (pending final approval from Montreal’s fire department inspectors) introducing their new Saturday concept, where a surprise hi-profile guest DJ will grace the Stereo decks….all will be revealed on the new and improved Stereo dance floor!

Roger Sanchez is set to perform as scheduled (pending final approval from Montreal’s fire department inspectors), his 8 hour + marathon set marking his long awaited return to Stereo on Sunday 6th September, followed by the finale event on the waterfront of Montreal’s old port at Ile de Bonsecours in association with Neon. Artists include Tiga, Adam Beyer, Clive Henry, Audiofly, Martin Buttrich Live, Jordan Dare and Maher Daniel all confirmed for this outdoor event.

This most recent fire marks the second time in just over a year that the legendary nightclub has been targeted. The Stereo team had worked diligently around the clock for the past eight months, (after a fire gutted it in July 2008) developing the new face of Stereo, with hopes of revitalizing Montreal’s nightlife. World renowned dj/producer Mark Farina simply states, “Stereo Montreal is setting an example, and raising the bar in global clubbing”.

STEREO NIGHTCLUB: La fête continuera!
Le Stereo Nightclub a été victime d’un incendie mineur tôt le matin du Mardi 1 Septembre. En dépit de dommages mineurs le Stereo prévoyait sa réouverture pour le weekend de la fin de semaine du travail du Jeudi 3 au Lundi 7 septembre.

Le propriétaire du Stereo, Tommy Piscardeli nous a déclaré: “Je ne suis pas fâché. Un malheur est arrivé mais quelque chose de bien va en ressortir.” Le copropriétaire du Stereo Mike Rein ajoute,” Nous avons un plan et une vision pour le Stereo et rien ne va nous arrêter pour le mettre en œuvre”.

Angel Moraes, un des instigateurs du Stereo devait lancer les festivités Jeudi le 3 Septembre par une soirée dédiée spécialement aux medias et aux VIP de l’industrie de la vie de nuit montréalaise. Malheureusement, cette soirée à du être annulée. Moraes ajoute,” Le Stereo est devenue la maison pour le DJs et les amoureux de la musique électronique. Les incidents des derniers jours ne pourront jamais altérer l’esprit et la passion pour le Stereo.”

Hector Romero qui est un artiste résident depuis plusieurs années nous a déclaré; ” Je considère le Stereo comme ma maison et quand j’ai appris la nouvelle du feu j’étais sincèrement touché. Le communauté montréalaise de “Clubber” réclame la réouverture du Stereo. »
Plus de cent volontaires se sont mobilisés mardi soir pour assister les préposés au nettoyage de l’établissement. Ceci prouve que cette boite de nuit légendaire est toujours un établissement phare pour les «clubbers » montréalais et du monde entier.

La Société de développement commerciale du Village, l’arrondissement Ville Marie, L’office du tourisme de Montréal, le bureau du Maire de l’arrondissement Ville Marie, Le chef de Police du quartier, et les services des incendies sont conscients de la problématique actuelle et ont convenu de participer a une rencontre Vendredi le 11 Septembre prochain pour discuter des solutions a long terme qui devront être mises de l’avant pour permettre une opération efficace de cette établissement de classe international.

Gagnant d’un “Grammy Award”, Sharam de Deep Dish devait performer Vendredi le 4 Septembre avec son concept de soirée “Get Wild Show”. Ce concept prévoyait la participation de danseurs, de chanteurs, de la chanteuse Anousheh Khalili, avec le support des DJs Sultan et Ned Sheppard. Rogez Sanchez effectuera lui aussi son retour au Stereo avec une performance d’une durée de 10 heures dimanche le 6 Septembre, sous réserve de l’obtention de permis par les services municipaux.

L’évènement du lundi prévu aux terrasses du marche Bonsecours dans le vieux port de Montréal en association avec NEON mettra en vedette Tiga, Adam Beyer, Clive Henry, Audiofly, Martin Autriche Live, Jordan Dare et Maher.

Apres cette deuxième tentatives d’incendie, depuis 8 mois l’équipe du Stereo a travaillé de façon acharnée pour développer le nouveau concept du Stereo et revitaliser la vie de nuit à Montréal. Le Dj de réputation international Mark Farina a déclaré,” Le Stereo de Montréal est un exemple a suivre, et hausse la barre de la vie de nuit international”.

In this morning’s press release we had announced that Montréal’s fire department was going to visit the facility before issuing the necessary permit for the grand re-opening of Stereo.

Following a very positive visit. We can be assured at 85% that the permit will be issued. A few minor anomalies were found that we are able correct by tomorrow afternoon before the second inspection.

Sticking to his mantra that there should be no divisions within dance music, Sharam's new album features 21 songs from different landscapes in (dance) music, spread over a double CD/album of new material including collaborations with Daniel Bedingfield, kid Cudi, P. Diddy, Nic Fanciulli, Tommy Lee, Anousheh Khalili, and Morel. Titled "Get Wild", it is a testament to his philosophy. From tech-house, techno, electro, ambient through to psychedelia, acid house and rock/dance hybrids – "Get Wild" has it all. Singles include “The One” (receiving massive radio play worldwide), “Texi” & “Crazi” (underground club hits that pack a punch), and title track “Get Wild” (the WMC hit that’s on playlists & Top 10’s of the world’s top DJs).

After conquering the landscape of electronic dance music, Sharam’s ever-increasing effort to evolve and expand as an artist and to push boundaries has led him to the visual arts. His passion for film has resulted in his directorial debut with the music video for his latest single “She Came Along”. The theme Sharam developed for the music video & “Get Wild” album has been transformed into a visually driven live show. Sharam has been on the road touring his “Get Wild – The Live Show” worldwide since March 2009 and has been gracious enough to touchdown at Stereo to treat us to this top notch production on our re-opening weekend.

Accompanying Sharam and helping carry out his vision will be VJ CULTURE [ ] VLDB, who has worked with the likes of Mary J Blige and Beck just to name a few). Together they’ll be treating us to synchronized visual & vocal interpretations of the album tracks through strategically programmed screens. There will be themed production elements on stage for the show that will ensure the event is fully transformed into Sharam’s version of a clubber’s Spaghetti Western. In addition to the live cinema, the show features Anousheh Khalili (“Say Hello”, “Flashdance”) as lead vocalist, with supplementary performances from other collaborators on the album.
