I work at Reader`s Digest ... no Union, good pay and good social advantages nonetheless ;)

I also think government employee shouldn`t be allowed to go to strike ... there is other ways to manifest discontent anyway !

My opinion is also that unions that would be enforced to keep to a reasonable size by the governement would be the perfect situation !

As for companies, the bigger the company, usually, the better the employees are treated, salary and social advantages wise. Not a lot of individual respect, but then it leaves place for all kind of people to chose what they prefer ! Personal recognition by the employer, or social advantages.

I worked in a shop (Olymel) for 4 years as summer job, can't find better example of lazyass union workers around ! I'll skip the details since I don't feel like writting a book tonight.

I'm also referring to the fact that the whole STM is now on strike because 1 group of worker is unhappy with the offer made by the employer, when it satisfies the need in the best way they can.

And to the fact that a couple time in the past I've seen schools shut because cafetaria employees wanted a raise or many factories of a same banner all shut down because 1 factory was negotiating with the employer. I've seen population taken has hostage more than once by Unions workers, and then see them get away with it with, at best, a small fee that would be paid by the union that seems to have such reserves of money that they don`t care ...

Teachers and health specialists are probably ones of the only exceptions I see to this rule. Along with airplanes and trains drivers (those are union workers making over 100k per year by the way) Again, I'm not all againt unions, but CSN for example, is one union that would need to fall ! When Union workers make trouble, you are sure to always find a CSN flag around ! STM union is also way too strong, to be able to take the population hostage every couple years and still go freely with it.

What time will you get to Montreal ? I usually finish at 5, but I'm encouraged by my boss to do less hours since it's the dead season, so I could leave earlier without a problem !

Unions are not all-evil ... they just have way too much power here in Qc, and they just exagerate a lot, encouraging lazy ass grabers to do less and less at work, for ever-increasing salaries, and thus decreasing our overall national productivness. Not to mention that I, as a person, hate the lack of professionalism, which seems to be a moto for union workers.
