More seriously, for clubs, it really depends what day you want to go out. Crescent and St-Laurent are full of clubs, almost certain to find what you want there. Crescent is a bit more hype, with all that comes with it.

Open spaces ... Mount Royal ! on sundays, it's packed full of hippies, all drumming in circle. It's a nice place to chill out after a week-end of party.

Ste-Catherine is also a pretty nice place to walk, to feel the pulse of the city. Just go west from Berri-UQAM and you can't go wrong.
