What you've expressed seems very common for women especially in their early twenties to mid-thirties apparently. Maybe guys go through this as well but isnt that called mid-life crisis?
Anyway, what you described seems pretty much what happened in my situation. Its frustating that its nothing I could have prevented or even prepared for. Knowing that it doesnt have to be that way helps.

besides not very serious high-school dates and short relationships, my first real one lasted almost 10 years! from my last year of high-school right up to my mid-twenties. We had ups and downs but in the end I ended up just hating her with murder on my mind. She was a cold heartless ball crusher.
Then I got with this really intense emotional rollercoaster which despite the path of destruction I was ready to stick with.
Love doesnt have to last just a few years. Idealy my next girlfriend should be a bit more balanced, or at least sane. I think people give up too easily these days. It might be a modern society thing?
Or does everyone have to either have short stints or screw around while they're with someone?
My hope is that if I have an ideal of what it should be, there are probably others who think along the same lines.

nah, the stuff about others having worse never works when you're down. Of course I'm glad I dont have aids and live in afghanistan. My problem isnt on the outside, its on the inside. It's silly to even go on a public forum like this with it but its just so much easier than talking to people who know me.

I tried Gimp a while ago but once you've gotten used to photoshop, it's hard getting the hang of it. I<m having enough trouble getting to know Painter. But learning Painter is worth it as it has tons of features Photoshop or Gimp doesnt have, especially regarding natural media effects and the simple ability for rotating the canvas at will without recalculating the pixels. Very usefull!
