have any of you seen the movie FAT GIRL ? (well its called 'a ma soeur' in french) its pretty good but seriously clown why is it such a big deal if your sister is fat or not, i mean yeah its a problem but its something she should deal with on her own. my brother is 14 and hes failing all his classes but one, and just now hes been getting questioned by the police over some robbery his friends did, so if your sis is normal in every way xcept being fat consider yourself lucky |

Blaming promoters for bikers and whatnot at a party is crazy because the reason the dealers are there in the first place has nothing to do with the promoter, it has to do with the fact that at parties like this there is a HUGE market for drugs at one place and time. If your gonna blame anybody blame the people who buy drugs at parties, because if noone bought drugs at parties there would be no point in any dealers showing up. But theres no point in that either because drugs are such a big part of the scene that if there were no drugs there wouldnt be much of a scene, fucked but true. The best a promoter can do is try to keep everything on the sidelines so people can enjoy themselves and not feel like there in the middle of some turf battle. |

the only time this happens to me is when I wake up in the middle of a dream, sometimes it takes a few minutes to figure out that it was a dream after all and not something that happened |

i dont think going to work stoned is any less productive than going to work drunk |
» PoiSoNeD_CaNdY replied on Sun Mar 2, 2003 @ 11:51pm. Posted in ...illegeal. |
The government could make way more money selling drugs than it would loose from providing health care to people who used drugs. Think about it...is there any reason why joints would cost more to produce than cigs if marijuana was legal? Now we pay $7 for 20 cigs and its already heavily taxed, imagine getting 20 joints for $7 and the government still makes a healthy profit. |
» PoiSoNeD_CaNdY replied on Sun Mar 2, 2003 @ 11:25pm. Posted in ...illegeal. |
the government could easily monopolise drug sales and gain HUGE profits while eliminating a source of revenue for criminals drugs are illegal because they are perceived by the government to be harmful to individuals and society at large, with no benefits. the governmnet beleives it has the responsibility to make judgements as to what is in the best interest of public health. |

Yeah, that one dealer was annoying. He must've asked me if I wanted anything at least 6 times. And I agree that no matter how much you dont want to turn people away at the door, you gotta put some kinda limit, especially when things are already hot inside. The party probably did make good money, but it basically lived up to what it was supposed to be. Promoters shouldnt be doing parties to make money, they should be doing parties for the sake of the music and the people who enjoy the music. But if a party is popular and does make money, in my opinion that helps the scene because no promoter can keep doing parties at a loss forever. |

Alex, I completely respect and mostly agree with your views on drugs. But getting confrontational with someone over drug use cant solve anything. |

» PoiSoNeD_CaNdY replied on Sun Mar 2, 2003 @ 8:10pm. Posted in Secret Society. |
here's my 2 cents: no matter what kind of party it is, the promoter has to take responsibility for making sure the venue is safe. and when you have heat like that in a room full of people dancing, many of whom are on drugs, it is defintely not safe. as i meantioned that didnt stop me from having a good time, but i'd rather have a party cancelled than people being taken out in ambulances from heatstroke. |

i had a real good time overall but I must say the main room was like a sauna. i loved alot of the music that was played, especially dj tyrant in the main room (great freeform), and pretty much all the dnb in the second room. LOADS of candyravers all over the place :) i got to meet mindset and pat, also was great to chill with lee, spooky, and everyone else !! what i loved about this party was looking across the sea of people and seeing everyone lost in the music. also a plus was going with two peeps from boston, who now live in montreal and this being there first rave here, seemed to really enjoy it. |

Well, I read the article, it definetly had some interesting points to it. I'm inclined to beleive that in our very open society, its impossible for our media and government to outright LIE to us. I conclude this because with so many different media sources available to us, not only domestic but international ones as well, any outright LIE would inevitably be uncovered. Instead, I think governments and media, particlarly the U.S. media, is involved in systematically perpetuating HALF-TRUTHS. HALF-TRUTHS can be just as persuasive as outrights lies, because by selective reporting, twisting the facts, and embelishing certain details, the government can manipulate our thoughts and conclusions. I think the U.S. media reporting on the Iraq threat is a good example of this: the immediacy of threat from Iraq is emphasized, while other alternatives to war, as well as the consequences of such a war, are either ignored or downplayed. This is why I think it is important to get news from a variety of reputable sources, not because the facts themselves will be that much different, but to balance out the half-truths by hearing a number of different perspectives. |
