I think SA is more about people who simply can't refrain from having sex. You know. The "if you're not gonna have sex with me today, I'll get it on the streets" type. People who are in trouble because of their sex drive. I don't think jacking off ten times a day would qualify as being made miserable by one's sex drive. :)

That's a pretty strange way of seeing it...
Most of what I see here are people saying that unions often:
-defend people's right(?!) to not work and still be paid
-prioritize seniority over competence
-are making people in worst situations than theirs suffer in order to get their claims.

How's that protecting the rights of the upper class ? The upper class isn't gonna pay the 65$ (now probably more) bus pass. The upper class is gonna start up their mercedes and drive away.

I'm not "pro-life" in any way, but that is COLD. wow.
I've had an abortion. I was young, it took me about half of a second to make the decision. I never regretted it. However, I do wonder, sometimes, what he/she would have looked like and some such. Even though it didn't have any sort of conscience, it would have, eventually. It was alive. It was a part of both me and my bf of the time.
And now that I'm older and I actually want to have children at some point (I didn't), I don't think I could do it again.

I've never worked for a unionized company.
I've worked 35 hours/week for my last employer, same thing with my new one.

According to my impressions, alongside with the reports from people who have run companies...
People who run non unionized companies are now treating their employees real well in order to avoid that the unions come into play. I think that's good. It does show the use of unions... Treat your employees as well as you think they should to be happy. Else they'll use other means.
But I really do think that unions, nowadays, abuse both employers and employers. At least after a while.

I think that the definition of union should be changed completely. You know. Instead of always being in a union which defends experience over competence and eats XX% of your pay and then go on strike when things go real bad.... Don't have a union, and form one whenever things go real bad !

but, yeah, without knowing about the age issue, here's my view about the "Is it the girls choice, is it the boys choice more, or is it the choice to have an avortement?" bit.

I think that, just because we women have the baby inside of our body, it doesn't make it ok to chose for the guy/boy involved without their input. Both parties should consider each other's feeling and, mostly, reality.
If a guy is completely opposed to keeping a baby, while the girl insists on doing so... well, it depends.
If the girl wants to keep the baby and raise it, while the guy makes it clear that he is not interested, I don't think he should be held responsible.
If the girl doesn't want to have an abortion but understands that she/they is/
Update » Niji wrote on Tue May 22, 2007 @ 9:38pm
what button did I hit just now ?
anyway.

If the girl doesn't want to have an abortion but understands that she/they is/are not in a position to actually *raise* the baby, I think it's a whole other issue, but I'm not entirely sure what the guy could do.

Absolutely. But, by going on strike, who do they kick in the ass ? Not the big guys with their big cars... they make US, mostly people with salaries equal or smaller than theirs, suffer.
The more I think about it, the less I am convinced that they don't deserve what they ask for... I just don't know how they should ask for it. What I'm sure about, though, is that making people in worse conditions suffer for their claims definitely isn't the way to go.
