great party, good times, and the line-up was absolutely brilliant.

that whole room-change clusterfuck with that other non-rave-scene-affiliated douche promoter lasted just long enough to cut seismik's set and fuck me over pretty bad (though when things went back to normal all was well), but despite coming close to decking someone, dealing with a plastered non-affiliated dj, and being stuck with the garbage set-up in the non-affiliated room, i had lots of fun playing....and thanx to the ppl who eventually noticed there was hardcore in that room :P

sorry if seemed a little upset and complainy during the first half of the night, but given the circumstances, i was pretty damn calm :)

there is always some ambient noise/pure noise at these fests, and even though 'noise' is used to describe the more techno-ish hardcore industrial these days, it's still better than the term 'power-noise' which is what it's typically called. Over-labeling music sucks anyways.

Banning Option Guidelines

***The person who begins/starts/posts a new thread, aka the God Emperor, now has the option of banning users from his/her thread/topic.***

Here is a simple guide to ensure that the option is used fairly and without abuse or prejudice. It's directed more toward the God Emperors, yet is applicable to those posting in any thread. Please read before starting a new thread/topic.
(note: in the spirit of [ rave.ca ] these are standards & guidelines, not rules)

1. The purpose of the banning option is NOT to: a) Exclude users from discussions. b) Have the last word in an argument.

2. The purpose of the option IS to: a) avoid the disastrous, and unwanted, derailment of a topic. b) Stop all-out flame-wars between users other than the God Emperor.

3. So, if you find that, after several posts, a user is blatantly being a pain in the ass, which usually occurs when they are overly insulting to individuals AND way off-topic, you may, for the greater good, ban them from the thread...

-This is an option that is to be used with good judgment, common decency, and in all fairness.
-Try to give the users a chance; issue a straightforward warning first.
-If there are 10 or more users banned from a thread, then it will be obvious that the God Emperor is the real problem, and he/she will be overthrown.
-The option exists to avoid bullshit, not cause more.

4. An abusive God Emperor is one that uses the option for their own ends or personal vendettas; so, if you do feel the need to ban a user...

-You should NOT insult them, or make a reference to them, or even respond to them, after the fact.
-You should NOT use the banning as a means of winning an argument.
-You should NOT start a thread with a ban LIST (exception: Events Section, if you're afraid a person who dislikes you, or is a potential 'troll', will post damaging nonsense in a thread meant to promote an event)
-You should NOT ban a user just to make them look bad, and/or tarnish their reputation.

5. There are no real consequences to your actions here on [ rave.ca ] (except maybe that when you frustrate someone enough, there's no guarantee for what they might do to you in the 'real world')...

-HOWEVER: any God Emperor who abuses the banning option, who thinks it's funny to cut someone out of a thread, who bans a user that simply disagrees with the him/her yet stays on topic, and/or who makes fun of a user after banning them, should be seen as a total ASSHOLE and potential internet 'troll'. Not to mention that having the last word after banning a user makes you look like a pussy.

6. There is no real complaints department here on [ rave.ca ] which is part of the reason for this Guide...

-To make users feel that if they fall victim to an oppressive God Emperor, they may feel safe knowing that the ABUSERS of the banning option are NOW the persons who look STUPID.
-Which, in turn, will hopefully help avoid the need for 'response' threads, in which a banned user will start another thread about the a previous God Emperor, in order to make their point; which is understandable, but more of an escalation rather than a solution.

7. This all applies to the God Emperor's because they control the option. Other users in any given thread are more easily forgiven, especially since not everyone checks the ban-list when posting. Noah always makes the final decisions, and he's the one who can overthrow the God Emperor; this is his site.

8. Please remember: this board is about open-mindedness, freedom of speech, and diverse opinions. So, play fair, and try not to act like a totalitarian fascist, nor a whiny little bitch.

After all, it's just the internetz. :)

cops: some good, some bad.

the trouble with them is that they are humans in position of power, with weapons and an over-protective brotherhood, no matter what country you live in. But even with all that, there are plenty of helpful cops...though for some cops it depends on where you live, and what you look like. Plenty of cops do their job, and to the best of their ability.

my problem with the police force isn't the cops themselves, 'cause anyone could be an asshole or a good person, it's how they're used. The BossMan should be sending them out to check parks for rapists, not sending 'em to a rave to throw kids out on the streets at 4 am.

i guess it's one of those things that can't be generalized; it's case by case.
