that place is allowed to sell alcohol only a few times a year, unless the promoter renting the place has thier own permits. but, the venue insisted on selling beer at kawaii anyway, though the promoter didn't really want to; the venue promised no problems. lol. on top of that, factor in that the event was not "a-but-non-lucrative".. apparently the venue only has the right papers to cover non-profit events.

anyways, i saw the promoter on his wat out of the building when i showed up at the party, and this is approximately what he told me, as to why the cops busted the event.

btw, the party was going to end at 3am, so that wasn't the issue. and it was busted at around 11pm.

also because venues in MTL are never 100% certain.. in case you lose your venue, best write tba -24h instead of having to reprint flyers. i know from experience ;)

also, it's a question of laws, and even though some venues seem legal, the cops/city kind of do what they want, so it's always good to protect yourself every way possible.

if your party ends at 3am, and/or is in a bar, or 110% legal show venue, then write the address, it's actually a lot better publicity-wise and in your best interest.

the toilets at BSL were the worst ever, ever, but it's history now, since it's been changed to the jupiter room... and i hope they fixed that godforsaken bathroom.

Saph's upstairs is cramped and ghetto, but not that bad, but it would make for a decent photo shoot.

i don't bar hop much, so i couldn't recommend any other places, but i don't doubt that some sketchy bars on [ st.ca ] (near st.laurent / berri), or the strip-joints, have some nasty toilets. you just have to find someone who's been to those places, or you can randomly check 'em out yourself, if you dare :p
