really not sure, but i have a feeling it's a mild overdrive with a compression set to embiggen the sound.. it may also just boost all the frequencies, like a flat EQ +1 ...

blood overdrive kicks ass! it's true that it doesn't widen the sound but it gives it such a bigger badder sound.. pseudo-wide.. more like wide-load than wide :P - i put most of my snares through it.

there's an actual 'widener' in Sound-Forge too , but the sound-forge plugins are cpu hogs when used in fruity.. it's a nice touch though.

there's also the FL 'sound goodizer' you can pick up.. it works wonders, though it's more like the overdrive in that it doesn't make the sound wider, but bigger and better.. but you don't want to get addicted to using it. i don't even have it myself.. (hmmm, i should install FL8, it might already be in there)...
