... and of course, 'cause a handful of club-goths like NIN & VNV, the entire montreal industrial scene, and everyone in it, is shit ... *eyes roll*

whatever.

i've seen MTL's industrial festivals grow from 80 ppl on one night, to 800 ppl a day for 4 nights, over the last 6 years... granted it's mostly out-of-towners that buy tix, but it's still pretty fuckin' impressive, imo.

any scene's general population will prefer the pop version of that style .. whether they dress dark or fucked or not, they're just stupid humans who want to hear their fav popular songs. yes, it sucks, but it's not unique to the goth scene. it is, unfortunately, part of every scene.

hmmm .. i wasn't contacted :p

out of the all the ppl that book industrial type DJs at parties, i'm the only one left i think ;)

... and i don't really throw raves anymore, especially not at the last minute .. HOWEVER, let me see what's going on in the next few weeks, and i may be able to hook you up, though it won't be a super-huge gig, and the pay will be minimal..

but, as mentioned, KAO prod. and the DarkWave Fridays at Saphire's (by Dj Mr.Black) are your best bets (i work at Saphire's, so i can get in touch with the promoter for ya', but their bar nights are more goth/industrial/alt/ebm, and not so hardcore.. and devoid of hardstyle/psy) ...

next time you come to MTL, contact me first, and well ahead of time XD

does that mean Fox News is for intelligent ppl too? :p

when i watch a doc, i don't want a two hour opinion, i want unbiased information. and there's a big difference between a film-maker who immerses himself in a subject to learn more, and a guy who loses himself in the subject and can not see the 'big picture' ..

meh .. i guess we're going with the 'wait and see' mentality here .. big surprise, that's how humans deal with everything ... .. .

so, the movie is coming out when? in 2013? after 800 hours of uninformative footage has been accumulated and condensed into a 90 minute trailer? :p

yes yes, i am a universal sceptic; deal with it .. XD

nathan
Coolness: 167270
surprise surprise! i have an opinion! :p

once again, the main issue here is that the filming just kinda sucks.

even if the subject turns out to be well presented, it'll still be a bad movie.

usually, with a project that seems to take on this kind of magnitude, the film-maker should already have skills. but ppl keep saying he's learning "sur-le-champ" .. not too pro, imo.

the 'underage' thing is a little disturbing, not because they're on film, not because the dude is sleeping with 'em, but because of the way he films them (literally, he stands 3 feet away and pans the camera up and down, up and down), and how they take the spotlight. are there interviews with Djs, promoters, older ravers? are there shots of sober ppl ? is there anyone in this movie who knows what the fuck they're talking about? are there shots of good looking guys too? did he follow a promoter around from start to finish to get an interesting 'making of a party'?

another point is, documentaries are supposed be general, and objective. i see alot of bias in the what subjects are filmed, and documented. not to mention that a professional documentary maker removes himself form the subject, but here, he's everywhere, part of the scene, in most pics he takes. even a filmmaker who's already involved in the subject at hand, will seek the things he's not already aware of, will make his film 'enlightening'. what we seem to have here, is a movie about the obvious.

maybe there would be less problems if he made this more autobiographical: "my boring & twisted journey through the rave scene" ...

ps. if you want to make a real movie, get a real camera.

(now, feel free to get pissed at me for leaving yet another opinionated/inflammatory comment about another disturbing and unclear subject - argue all you want, that's what the forum is here for :p )

Thanks,

- fist, you don't hit raves, you mosey on up to them, and buy them a drink. (there must a law against hitting raves, 'cause every other time i do, the cops show up)

- i don't recommend getting into spirits, stick with beer or some harder stuff, but that 90% alcohol shit is not good. in fact, you probably shouldn't be drinking for all of a 12 hour party anyway.

- good DJs are a few and far between, so start with one you know, then check out every 4th DJ after that. (you can't go wrong with Mutante, so you can start from there).

- rave outfits aren't put together, they're thrown together.

- nothing else comes to mind. guess i've bammaged my drain with too many ravze.

- now, gimme a joint and some techno and stfu.

:P

at work, security caught 2 dudes in the bathroom.. one guy was using his cellphone for light as he was shooting up his buddy, in the balls.. :/

surprised, the dude dropped his cell, and the other had the syringe dangling from his nutsack ..

now, what fucking drug do you shoot into your balls!? in a bar toilet!?

what the fuck. and why the fuck.

awesome.. thnx again screwhead :)

about the repetitive thing, it's not that the show is redundant, or re-uses similar jokes; it's just that there are at least 3 episodes per season, for the last 3 seasons, that repeat the same line about 10 times during the show .. it kinda gets irritating.

i love south park anyway... can't wait to watch this episode.
