Industrial never followed a strict form. Most Throbbing Gristle stuff sounds more like dark ambient than anything else. Coil sounds like IDM/experimental electronic. Neubauten sounds like....euhm....garbage cans being ripped appart by chainsaws? Early industrial really didn't sound like either hardcore or EBM if you want my 2 cent...I don't see much fast tempo in industrial music...

well, of course, the whole point of industrial is about pushing limits and experimenting. it sounds gritty, somewhat creative, and all that other weird stuff .. i'm talking about modern day electronics, and how hardcore sounds more akin to what industrial could've / should've become - conceptually ...

and one important thing: hardcore isn't necessarily fast!! that's 2 ppl since i correlated HC and indus. that compared BPMs ... sorry but i mostly listen to and play hardcore between 135 / 155 bpm.

so, like industrial, hardcore has no fixed tempo. they can both have tunes from 1 to 1000 bpm..

'nuff said on my part (i could go on for 2 more pages - lol) .. i fear this could turn into a battle of musical wits, and i don't want to argue w/ ppl who have the same taste in music as me XD

though Mixxx is a fun little linux program, it is a little faulty. maybe that's why you're having a hard time getting a grip on the visual part of mixing digitally with programs.

i prefer looking at the grooves of a record and using my ears, to seeing a waveform and watching little coloured sticks line up ... just my tastes :)

but again, i've fiddled w/ this program, and though it's cool, it's very basic & it's not perfect. you can't rely on the lines to tell you if the tune is beat-matched or not.

the best thing i did with it was mash-up a 2-Pac song with a Dj Producer hardcore track .. worked out pretty well, imo - lol

well, some of us don't have a choice .. if i'm booked at a party with plenty of HHC, then i'm not going to be a dick and show up a minute before my set and then fuck off right after .. i'm gonna stick through it all, no matter what music is being played.

and btw, in the past year, up until a month ago, HHC was in almost every single party that wasn't a pure psy- party. it's been everywhere. it was dead for about two or three years up until just over a year ago ..

so, i don't get the necessity of this thread. what happened to hhc? it got popular again, that's what.

and also, everyone knows my stand on that style already, but i stopped bashing hhc years ago, when i realized that the producers & DJs that make and play that shit are good ppl. some of 'em are chiller than a few of the douches i've met in the hardcore, etc, scenes - and most of 'em are skilled at what they do ... so, i tolerate the music; i've had to, after a decade of raving, learn to ignore the tunes that are unpleasant to my ears, and not whine about it..

but to say happy music is for happy ppl is just dense.. slow, distorted, bass-heavy, aggressive music makes me really happy, so meh...

Proper therapy and support groups make a very big positive different in people's lives. Rape and sexual abuse comes in all different forms and one shouldn't decide for others which situations and traumatic events are worse than others because it's all a very personal thing.

i agree with the last part, and i never said the outcome was irreversible for the victim. But not all ppl who have gone through that have access to therapy, help etc. And even if the consequences are minimal, there are still some. i'm just sympathizing with the victims, Drix. You're right it is personal, and it's personal for me too. I've seen what if does to people, and i was just stating my opinion, with a little generalization thrown in. Anyway, what you say doesn't negate what i said, imo.

It's just a bad thing; I'm really happy ppl can heal, but it doesn't change the fact that the act itself is just bad.

I guess saying it's worse than murder is really just my view (you'd have to know how i feel about death to understand where i'm coming from), and i see how ppl who love life can find that a bit offensive since alot of victims get better and live full lives... :)

... as for where the thread has taken us: infidelity is just stupid and selfish.
