i agree, setting up for VJs is a bit of a pain in the ass, but y'know, they were still cool to have XD

what bothers me is that psy has to be the only techno in the world that actually has different styles within itself designed solely for the hour of the night/day. it's like, it tries too hard to be self-sufficient. 'it has to be a uniform trip' (and i get that, but still ... )

something like a hardcore party necessitates other styles of music, like hard-techno, industrial, dubstep, or d'n'b to start/finish a party, without killing the ravers with crazy hard shit at 8am.

d'n'b type parties have breaks, dub, jungle, and other breaky styles to round out the night.

psy has: psy and other types of psy. i like the music, but don't you guys get bored of the same kick drum, the same 4/4, with very little variety in tempo, after a 10 hours?? (and yes, i would ask the same question of someone who goes to an after-hours to listen to House all night) - it must be like having a girlfriend that changes her make-up everyday, but always wears the exact same clothes ...

it's 'cause it looks trippy. the rest, like so-called symbolism, is just self-justification for the pot-luck-dinner equivalent of western 'spirituality'. it just looks cool, which is fine. besides, most styles of music try to add visuals to their acts to enhance the overall experience, with their own conceptuality, which is also fine. i like speakers, smoke, and moving lights ...

anyway, it might be art, but it's mostly eye candy. nothing more. it's trippy. end of story.

... and if you need to clear the venue real quick, i can play a speedcore set :p

maybe you should book someone who plays chill-dubstep (ie. wally) or minimal-tek (ie. okin) instead. there's too much psy in psy parties, heh. ;)

Woah! What a great night to close the season! As Deadna prod., and as your friend, I would just like to thank everyone who's made it out and played out at OCDj every Tuesday since April. Each and every week was a bloody good time, and I have all of you to thank for it. Without you kids, and the support & enthusiasm from Bar Passeport, MTL's ONLY weekly HARD electronic night would not have been as successful.

So, as planned, OCDj is hibernating for the winter, gathering it's strength during the harsh times ahead. I also need time to produce music, and get things ready for next season. Indeed, we'll be back in the Spring, with a swift kick in the nuts!

No one wants to go out when it's -30 degrees outside, with all the snow-storms and slush, myself included. It also gives room for the other various week-day electronic nights to breathe, given the harsh season.

So, we're hibernating for the winter, as planned. The last date for this season will be November 30th. That gives you all 1 more week to come out and enjoy the final kick-ass episode. I'm extremely happy with OCDj, and I'm very grateful to all the (50+) DJs and live acts who have come through in the past 8 months, and very thankful to Bar Passeport for all the enthusiasm and support.

I'd like to insist, just incase, that the decision has nothing to do with success, other promoters, or the bar. It is entirely a question of temperature & weather, and was foreseen.

I'm sorry if alot of you are disappointed, but when we unveil our plans for the next season, you'll all be very happy for our little break and very pleased with what I have in store for you! =)

ugh, this again. why does talking about saving a defenceless animal always turn into anti-veggie talk?

yes, veganism is extreme, and you end up buying into a whole other monster. i'm just a vegetarian, i avoid meat products and by-products. i try to avoid them in non-food items too, but it's hard. i eat cheese, 'cause i like it.

i'm not a fascist veggie, i don't spit on those who eat meat. i just try to balance things out, and make a small dent in the meat industry, 'cause that's the real problem; it's not the meat i'm against since we're omnivores, it's the industry. (i also have dozens of other reasons, but they're mine)

cutting down a bit on eating flesh is a good idea for everyone (health-wise) anyway, but hell y'all can do what you want. you might feel that veggies are self-righteous, and alot of them are, but don't be going around bashing 'em, 'cause that's just hypocrisy.

we live in a city that affords us choices. to each his own. deal with it.
