that's odd ... in that case, you should tell the dude beforehand that you're adding him to your pre-set line-up, therefore he falls outside of your budget constraints and he should just be happy that you fit him in there - unless he brings a big crowd and/or you make a big profit ...

There's a new law in Quebec that says bouncers now have to take a Security Course at some security 'school'. Came into effect a month ago.
It's all good to teach bouncers how to deal with situations, but on the other hand it seems like a scam since the courses are in the 700$ range, and pretty much obligatory (though I'm not sure how enforced it'll be) ...

I think each club should have 1 certified bouncer who trains the others, and the club should be more responsible with how their security treats people. I've found that even the club owners end up being to shy/scared to tell the bouncers how to work, and bouncers end up having a blank cheque.

Security is necessary most of the time, but I've almost always found, with few exceptions, that bouncers are either over-zealous, or lazy and incompetent. But then again, they get paid to be "air-bête" to a certain extent. But I've seen some really nice dudes, that are also big n' scary, and they smile and all that until they need to take care of business.

meh, this kind of shit happens too often - but we're always happy bouncers are around when something goes wrong ... what choice do we have?

K was big a few years back, then died out for a bit, then regained popularity recently ...

No idea why (maybe 'cause the rave scene was small for that period, so there just weren't as many parties in which to witness drug use) ... and it's true that people aren't discreet with it, 'specially in bars where they're regularly caught and given the boot.

I'm not sure if people have ever been more discreet, but realize that we're dealing with a new generation, and for whatever they think is cool they want people aware that they are participating in that coolness. It's normal, unless you're shy or worried about being caught, 'cause kids aren't taught discretion, it's something they learn from their mistakes. Or, it's just about showing-off.

I always saw K as a 'sitting around the house with friends' kinda trip, but whatever ...

Just be happy that Crystal Meth isn't prominent, and y'know, live and let die :)

Luckily at Passeport there are 8 owners and they all have respect for DJs (one is a resident dj there)
- unless you're talking about the old Passeport ... ?



and the other moral is: you can't sell booze in a club with no music ;)

i hate requests, but you have to understand people who make 'em, they want to hear the tunes they paid cover for .. but damn it can be fuckin' annoying. Club owners just try to keep their regulars happy. Promoters, though, should tell you beforehand what they would like you to play if not your normal style.
