aww damn i saw this too late .. :/

I know, people remember the old Fl and laugh it off, but they've really improved, and I love it - love the way it works, and have learned to work around what doesn't, which isn't much. So wow, it takes a little extra effort to master shit properly, so what, I'm really happy with the logistics of writing music is FLstudio.

There are a vareity of programs, some better, some not, but the idea is: use what you're comfortable with ... good luck with your new virtual studio Kire :)

It's so weird 'cause no staff at the bar would do that. I'm hoping it wasn't some client that reached over and grabbed it while she was getting a coat or something. I know the day manager didn't even go in the coat-check the next day. I keep forgetting to ask the Wednesday door-girl if she found anything.

but at every turn, the scene cleverly tried to get around the 'laws' ... unfortunately, in that time the scene went from 3000 people strong, to 300 ... I think we're climbing back up though, and everytime that has happened since the that fateful bust, there is another string of busted parties. The important thing, is to have patience, and out-think the city/cops ;)

Exactly! They call a db lvl constraint, barely knowing how that can (or usually cannot) be controlled. I'm sure they brought in an 'expert' to come up with the limits, but didn't really explore the world of sound. It really seems like an excuse to crackdown on stuff they've lost control of, due to our cleverness & the city's corruptness ...

And, if ever I need to, I will take you up on your offer, and throw in some other sound experts too :)

So, with all the super loud shit that goes on in a big urban city like Montreal, I hear that the city is cracking down .. mostly on noises/sounds that are amplified. For me, this translates to music. So, the city is basically going to be giving massive fines for loud music, and call it noise-pollution, when there are tons of other things that are fucking loud, and actual noise not music, like: sirens, trucks, buses, crazy screaming homeless people, construction, kids playing, loud city vehicles (street cleaners, garbage trucks), airplanes, etc. etc. etc.

So, why target music? What's the hidden agenda? And what can we do to express our discontent with absurd new laws, prohibiting us from listening to what we love instead of dealing with the cacophony of the Big City?

If I had the money, I'd place several loud sound-systems in various buildings, and lock 'em up good, just see the cops frustrate themselves to locate and shutdown the 'noise' ...

Maybe a sort of Montreal Noise Day, when everyone jacks up the volume on any speaker they own, in protest...

Maybe most of Montreal wants to become a calm pussified quiet shadow of itself, instead of the bustling nightlife-embracing city it's always been known and loved for. Somehow I think it's just the inlfux of snobby jerks buying condos in the middle of downtown, who think they can somehow live 'the quiet life', to the detriment and freedom of the rest of the city.

Some facts and statements I picked out of another thread, from Melodrastik:
''Par exemple, dans le cas d'un concert extérieur, le niveau sonore ne devra pas dépasser 80 décibels à 35 mètres de la scène ...
Un établissement qui laisse entendre de la musique hors de ses murs s'expose à des amendes allant de 1000 à 12 000$ ...
La chasse au bruit tant qu'à moi est devenue comme une chasse aux sorcières au détriment des artistes et ainsi remplir les poches des Gourvernement ... ''

They're supposed to be running a major North-American City, not a motherfucking library!

booze = beer
hard = hard booze

I would just write beer, but apparently there's some law that says you can't write the actual alcoholic product name with a price attached for promo purposes ... ie: ''1 Bottle of Boreale beer for 3$'' = illegal advertising ...

It's totally stupid, and I'm not entirely sure it's a really real law, but until I find out for sure I can't get the bar into trouble, so I go with a traditional nick-name for alcohol/beer: booze!

You gotta be careful though, 'cause if it's spelled wrong, booze can also mean 'cow shit' in French ..

Either way, we get drunk and party it up tonight, 'til we're as dirty and broken as the beats! =)

Hey Noah, I see that you're turning the day into a protest type thing, and I wish I could be there, 'specially since I was originally supposed to play, but something a little more important has come up; I have a funeral to attend ... major tragedy struck one of my best friends this week, and his well being is obviously more of a priority than this event, as much as I support music at the mountain ... that's kinda cute actually, and good for them ... i think it would have been sweet to try to start up the party again, but assumed that the police would be sending regular patrols around the area until at least 5am ... someone said something about the mountain, but i imagined an easy fail, and opted for chillin' in an apartment until i was satisfied that i had not totally wasted my night ... :)

more people = a higher douche : cool ratio ... the only people to blame are the ones who don't know shit about being subtle, whoever they may be. Though, be as secretive as possible, even a group of 200 ninjas is still not subtle ... but I think it may have still been possible to to gather so many people in a less noticeable way.

About the location, of course it was a bad idea, but did anyone help find a better more efficient spot? Obviously not.

Anyway, this gives alot to think about to the rave scene in general. Maybe it'll prove to be a step forward in figuring out the logistics of throwing a massive event, finding new locations, and in properly re-building the scene ... .. .

Cheers to those who put effort into this, whether or not it was a bad idea. Could've been real cool.

Some of the different crews seem to have split opinions on all this, but I hope that it doesn't cause permanent damage to the possiblity of the scene/promoters working together.
