I guess that's kinda what I meant, that final 'ready for mass production' step is missing, so you get the raw volume instead of the CD quality volume ... if that makes sense ...

I know 0db = 0db on any DAW, but there's something strange about FruityLoops, if you stay under the red, no matter what you do, the tune still sounds slightly lower than most. It' always been a mystery to me .. if you can explain that, please do so! (maybe I'm just crazy) xD

hmm.. not gonna argue with one of the Kings of the dubstep scene ;) ... but since dubstep is really at half-tempo, it's at 70 bpm, and so it's conceivable that a dubstep song could hit 90 bpm, so double-time that, and you can mix it with D'n'B -- or is all dubstep faster than '140' automatically considered Drumstep ? (kinda like in Hardcore, give most Hardcore/Terrorcore an extra 20 BPMs past 200 and it's considered Speedcore, most of the time ... )

And, yes, once my kid learns his BPMs, I will bring him/her to a rave, under supervision, to make sure they take as little drugs as I did when I started ;) ... of course, I shouldn't have much trouble since I have no plans on having children.

honestly, I think the problem is either the quality of the MP3, or most likely, the fact that tunes on Beatport are all ''professional'', and the tunes on here and Soundcloud are pretty much amateur productions (no offense to all producers, myself included) ... some programs like Fruity-Loops tend to have low out-put when tracks are exported - so it's not so much the producers fault, there's just a post-mastering step missing in the process, which is fine, except that the tunes' volume might be lower ...

this is only a theory!

Yeah, I've been in exactly that situation where there was a party with a semi-open decks type line-up, and since I was the only Dj who didn't act like a whiny bitch, I didn't get to play, but I still enjoyed the party and didn't leave dissapointed -- but that's no where near the same as accepting a gig, for free or not, with the hopees of rockin' the dancefloor, just to be bumped 'cause of someone else's ego trip. You really think a Dj can be all smiles and good times, after getting fucked over?

Why is DJing so unimportant? Apply this situation to any other aspect of life (like within a 'normal' job) and it would still suck, and people would react the same ...

Guess I'm lucky. Every Tuesday, I have to play the part of Promoter, not my favorite thing, and so I keep an eye on the clock, and when it's time to switch up I walk over to the DJ booth, and I'm like ''okay, it's time .. oh you're there .. ok uhm, uh, you already have your headphones on, uh .. sweet, have fun!'' ... In other words, I book professionals, and I don't even have to baby-sit or do my job, they just switch over when it's time, all by themselves. Love it.

If the person going over time is the BIG headliner you flew in from some distant planet, and he wants to throw in an extra 10 minutes, cool! If it's just another vat-grown dj clone tripping balls, then meh, move over and let the next person play, 'specially if its getting late in the night, 'cause think of the people down the line, the guy already playing shitty 7am slot might have to get bumped to 8am, and that sucks ass (and happens alot).

--In fact, I remember getting onstage at the Kinetik 1 After-Party, and telling Dj Producer that he could take some extra time if he wanted to (since it was only me on next, and he's trippin' the crowd like crazy), and he replied ''nah, I'm good, thnx''. So, theres the flipside ...

But, y'know, DJing IS like any other job, and there are selfish people everywhere (and I'm generalizing, not saying this is just Psyrenity) and dicks, and assholes, and people who love the heat of the spotlight, as if they are the sum of the parts of a rave ...

People like that, should find and occupy bar nights, where they can play for 5 hours straight. Of course, they'd have to compromise their music styles, but hey, it comes with bitches and coke ;)

Ah, DJs ... sometimes we have to be assholes to eachother, sometimes we're too nice to eachother :)

It's psad that a Dj can't concede a little though, but you psee, that's a problem with a pscene who's Djs are used to playing more than an hour, and that the 'trance' is more important than mutual respect between Djs (which pseems like a pshitty reason, psince you weren't gonna go on with D'n'B or psomething) ... Id've said 'ok, gimme 45 minutes, then I'll play another 45 minutes after'.

Perhaps he was too pstoned, and in his own bubble? Not a good excuse, but pstill excusable ...

Anyway, if I to posted every time psome dick Dj/promoter bumped me, or went way over time, or pswitched up the pschedule at the last minute, the General Discussions board would be over 1000 pages already :P

Had a good time, despite a lower than expected turn-out, and tagging with Rakoon was a blast - even though the Transformer costumes didn't last more than 5 minutes, for practical reasons :p
(and sorry if our set was a little messy at times, those turntables got wonky on me - 'specially combined with my crappy old records xD )

Thanks alot for putting together a cool rave with a great line-up and chill theme! Very well done party, and a first step in the right direction for this summer's Hardcore events ... if this was just a small avant-gout of what Heroes vs. Villains is gonna be like, then it's gonna be awesome!

And big-up to those who put some effort into wearing costumes - love the dedication.
