Civil war? nice. I'm in.

Can't tell you which side though, since I plan on being a double agent. Perhaps even a double double-agent. Or a triple double-agent . . . Anyway, M. Night Shyamalan is helping me out with this. It'll be fine, trust me.

I'm all for vigilantism.

Obviously, there can be issues with 'abuse of power' but if you get a good well-principled crew together, who don't necessarily need weapons either, then you could create some change in the streets. There are ways of reducing the risk of getting arrested, after all isn't the problem that there aren't enough cops and control? Those asshole crack-heads and wannabe gangstahs get away with shit all the time anyway ...

At least a group of real citizens would know more about the trouble in the streets. We're at street level, y'know, so we have a very good idea of which corners, areas, and places are more dangerous and/or causing problems. We don't need to be called in order to act ...

The only problem with fighting violence with violence, is knowing when to stop, to make sure that you relax before becoming a problem yourself. The other problem, unfortunately, is that typical Batman / Joker 'you created me, I created you' paradigm; like, maybe ending up with 'anti anti-gang gangs' ...

Still, getting a small group together, pinpointing a few of the worst areas, cleaning up a bit for a couple of weeks/months, then stepping back to see if it helped, seems like a worthwhile plan.

Agreed, but if a car is coming in the opposite direction, you can see it -- and if a car is behind you, I've noticed that, 'cause of wind and the fact that ears are more receptive to sounds ahead of us, you don't really hear the cars that are behind you until they're pretty close anyway ...

Well, that's pretty lame ... and I know, cyclists are assholes too -- even though you did the right thing, you got shit for it, and that sucks.

Some people just don't know how to travel respectfully. Even pedestrians, when they walk 3 people side-by-side, super slowly - it's irritating!

I hit a bike once, 'cause some chick was walking her bike across the street on Ontario (a super busy street) and she wasn't paying attention, the light was still yellow for me and it was too late to break, so obviously I was coming in fast. So, I slammed into her bike with mine, and she gave ME shit!! Fuck I was pissed. I was even being apologetic despite the fact that it was clearly her fault. People can be very stupid, and never want to take the blame, in the face of strangers, that they were the reason for any accident or near-accidents.

meh. That's why I do my best to avoid big streets, and even bike-paths to a certain extent. Alot of dicks just don't know how to drive, whether it's their car, bike, or feet.

Communication, and vigilance are obviously very important when commuting. But, common sense seems to be a rare thing these days ...

Well, honestly, I've biked with headphones on .. 'cause I have eyes! And I made sure the volume wasn't too high (I made sure I was high though :p )

I mean, yeah it's a little dangerous, but when riding a bike in the city, you're not supposed to be oblivious of your surroundings anyway, and you can stay focused while using your eyeballs.

Cars do have horns for a reason, and they're supposed to be a warning, not a 'fuck you!' when some asshole j-walks while you're driving by ...

Anyway, kids: don't ever ride a bike in the wrong direction, don't wear big fat headphones with the tunes cranked way up, and fucking pay attention. And car drivers: Just fucking pay attention! I'm trying to get somewhere by pedaling on a 2 wheels and a little piece of shit metal frame, ya' dick! :p

The point is, people should warn other people of possible danger on the road in whatever way possible instead of yelling and honking at the retard after the fact ... everyone makes mistakes, no matter how vigilant they are.

Sweet! I'm rarely excited about films 'in-development' but this kicks ass!

Like Strik though, without Campbell, it won't be the same ... but if he isn't the main character, I'm sure he'll at least make a cameo appearance ...

Either way, we'll be waiting so long for this to come out, that it better not suck!!

There were no proper trackers to make tunes with .. there was a Sound Forge type program, something to fuck around with effects on a sound, some Dj mixing program, but nothin' like Fruity Loops. It was more about managing/mixing sounds/tunes , not actual music creation.

I'm sure proper music making programs exist on linux, but I haven't come across 'em yet.

It's like, no one in the world is, understandably, willing to put the time in to make a program as expansive as Ableton, or FL, or even Reason. Then there are all the VSTs that need to be re-written for linux ... too much of a pain in the ass. Its one thing to mimic MSN or a word processor, but massive music software? Maybe some genius somewhere will do it some time. In the meantime, I use Windows on another 'puter to produce.

So, I'm also curious -- just saying 'on linux' is not enough; what program was used ??

didn't listen to the tune (no flash)

But I will tell you, I've been suing Ubuntu (linux) for some time now, and I love it, but NOT for production. In linux, there is an answer to every existing program from mac to windows, but the one thing that blows is stuff for music production. My friend who turned my onto linux told me to install the music production pack (or whatever its called) and I tried it out, but was severely disappointed. Music production needs professional programs. I'm 200% for open-source software, but not for making music.

Cool that people are trying, and I'm sure some mad-geniuses could make it work, but it just isn't as perfected as Ableton, Fruity-Loops, etc. (and there is no linux version of those that I can find)

Thnx DynV ! Yeah, playing Hardcore and various harsh techno for 5 hours straight was pretty epic xD

And no, there were no booking issues, I just wanted to do it alone, for the last night.

THNX so much to all the people who came and had a good time, danced, drank, and lent their support to Hardcore.

Thnx also to everyone who has ever been to OCDj, and of course to ALL the 70+ DJs who played for me since April 2010. Also, a big thank you to Pola for doing the door, Gab for the graphics/flyer/poster work, and Passeport for letting us invade their bar every week.

It's sad to say goodbye to Tuesdays, but OCDj isn't entirely dead. This was the end of the current format, but the night just might be back in the not-too-distant future, on a different day in a different place - another time and space ...

In the meantime, Deadna prod., along with 'I' prod, is working hard on a big Hardcore event at the end of the summer, CTRL ALT DEL, with Unexist and Satronica !! [ www.rave.ca ]

Thanks again to the Montreal Hardcore Massive. Much love.

You do realise that it's a fucking pain in the ass to promote yourself nowadays right? Why? Because of these little fuckers. They spam the shit out of everyone and nobody wants to EVER listen to a track you send them because they're too afraid to listen to some crap a 6 years old could come up with.
Instead of encouraging them, I'd rather say that they should STFU, learn music and do something else than any twit could come up with and THEN promote themselves.

True! But then, these 'little fuckers' don't know that they're little fuckers. Some geniuses work their asses off and get no recognition and have a hard time putting themselves out there 'cause of other carbon-copy spammer twats -- but I think his comments were directed at the producers who complain about not getting noticed, without really having done anything either to promote themselves or be different. Alot of genius types that make great music don't really care about 'making it big' so the blog might not pertain to them ... on the other hand, if you ARE working your ass off, and you DO make original and/or kick-ass music, then don't take offense, just keep on working hard!

Some people can 'make it' simply by being at the right place at the right time, or 'cause they have cash, or 'cause their parents have cash, or coincidental connections, etc. Nonetheless, this isn't the case for everyone, and the point is you can't bitch if you don't try.

Don't forget, he had the Industrial/EBM scene in mind, and unlike other techno styles where similarity drives the hypnotic groove of the dance-floor, it's obvious that alot of bands try to mimic their favorite (or best-selling) bands, instead of producing different, original, forward-thinking, futuristic music - which is the basis for the Industrial movement.

In a year or two, when all the kids get bored with Dubstep, the same type of comments will surface from some person heavily involved in the scene.

If we love music, we have to push it, no matter what the style, especially if our principles lie deep within that style - whether it's attending, promoting, DJing, or producing. If we aren't part of the solution, well ... .. .

^ yup ... When playing for a dance-floor club-night, like when I play Industrial, I try to please the crowd, for sure, but I take requests as suggestions (songs, bands, styles), play lesser known songs from well known bands, and throw a really good track in that isn't popular (yet!) in between the hits ...

Anyway, it's all fairly simple but no one gets it ... Fans: go to shows! Promoters: promote! DJs: play good music, not only popular shit! Producers: Innovate!

I mean, no one is forced to do the right thing, but don't bitch & whine if things aren't perfect when you aren't even pulling your weight ...
