totally agree with that last statement Fish.

detailing sub-genres gets pretty anal. we play hardcore, that's it.

Otherwise it's "yeah, i play terrorcore, speedcore, oldschool hardcore, breakcore, gabber, darkcore, doomcore, hardtek, hardtech, hardfloor, noisecore, industrial, rhythmic noise, drill n' bass, and hard d'n'b. Just write all that on the flyer "

jebus, just stick with hardcore...or allcore :P

Apr1zm: c'est vraie. entre 2001 et 2004 gabber etait LE style de hardcore. Mais, en consequence, on s'est tous tanner du gabber. Et la, ca reviens en force avec le hardstyle ainsi.

Go figure :P

I wouldn't consider Drop Bass gabber, though some of the releases were, and others were close. Drop Bass tended to be a little faster, typical hardcore. Also older. Then again, the origins of gabber are foggy and dubious.

Mutante or Fishead might be able to shed a little more light... .. .

lenny dee is not gabber. it's hardcore, and various techno, like breaks and tech.

big gabber artists: Endymion, Dione, Catscan, Promo, and (unfortunately) Neophyte. The two biggest labels are Masters Of Hardcore and H20. It's steady at 160 bpm, but varies from 150 to 165 bpm.

now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Update » Nathan wrote on Sat Dec 27, 2008 @ 8:20pm
mais, corruptor, t'as un peu raison, mais c'est parce-que lenny dee produit une large variete de hardcore et techno, et travail avec plusieurs artistes differents.

ps. mad respect to lenny dee. he's a great guy too! And Jules (his wife) works her ass off for Industrial Strength Rec. as well.

funny that no one who replied top the comment is actually a big gabber fan. that's not the point. point is that making assumptions and labeling an entire sub-genre is wrong. especially when the info is wrong.

basically, you can't say "it like it is" 'cause you haven't the slightest clue what "it is". neo-nazis also listen to hip-hop. Guess that means that most rappers are nazis.

'm just not a fan of the the big epic/anthemic synths. But i don't see why people say it's not danceable. 160 bpm, steady beat, melodies, big kicks. what else do you need to dance? It's hardcore's little snot-nosed brother. Y'know, irritating yet fun :P Plus, the bpm is in between too fast and too slow; it's just right for the hardcore kids. But, hey, to each his own.

On top of all that, the dancefloor tends to be fullest when there's gabber-ish music playing. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to actually go to a rave, and not sit around a bar making assumptions.

(et merci mutante, t'as dit exactement ce que je pensait, mais je ne pouvait pas poster de quoi qui aurait peut-etre provoker un certain individu :P )

and gabber goes like this: waw-w-wa wawa-w-w-w-aa

Side note: correct me if 'm wrong, but the difference between gabber and harstyle isn't big. hardstyle is softer with longer more epic melody lines, a little less of the 'military riddim', and wee bit cheesier. it's the closest thing we'll ever have to pop-core :P

his point is that wires will ultimately last as long as you take care of them.

btw, some sennheiser models have a thicker wire, i have the hd515. it's thicker than the sony's i have. besides, the thickness of a wire = quality is a bit of an illusion depending on the pair of headphones.

personally, more important advice is which headphones not to get, like Chateau brand :P

i never got why people are fans of Sony headphones. 've always found that they are ugly, and he sound is shit. some of 'em are durable, but that depends on which pair and the price range.

Personal fav is Sennheiser...

For durability, it's easy: be careful! no headphones will last if you pull on cords, drop 'em, or lend them to a hardcore DJ... .. .
