no I would just rather see hard techno artists like regis, sergeon, richard harvey, geatek then artists that I have seen befor whom didnt move me in the slightest... I feel the same way about aritsts the minimal artists some of them have blown me away and some who left me feeling limp :)
its important to realise that just becasue someone has a good record out or a good mix out that this does not mean quality...
to me rush was lame... there s nothing worse then soleless, funkless, meaningless hard for the sake of being hard techno at that point it becomes simply a 909 kick and some other sounds boring... hey Ive felt this same feeling about some of the largest names in techno so dont get me wrong there is a reason why Ill never go see richie or jeff mills play again they just disspointed me once to many times over...

whoa there nelly...
;)
not all garage sucks...
I mean uk garage is not really my cuppa tea how ever nyc garage house and the scenes that followed suit like the one in chicago, toronto and the one in mtl (the therepy crew) are all doing some really good things in fact some really great things I mean look at nick holder's garage 416 crew they are doing some great things, the therepy crew here wit jojo flores in mtl is also doing some important things in the world of nyc garage house
but if its uk garage, 2 step or speed garage that your talking about hummm I think that the music style has a long way to go yet in terms of really comming in to its own... as a style and as a result there is a lot of bad uk garage/2step/speed garage out there... maybe one day it will be some thing great as I do hear the potential for some thing interesting if all the cheesyness would go away from it...

dub is not nessarly about a beat its about feeling and air dub was the first if the ambient musics...befor ambient was coined ambient...
dub is an attitude if you will and is not about the beat but about all the ambience that occurs around the beat the textures....
thats what dub is about...
the reggea beat means nothing and lee scratch perry, adrian sherwood and countless others has taken the time to show us that though countless great dub releases...
that did not focus on the beat...

oh yeah so i was sying my definition of ambient and dub means no beats or barely audable beats and thinner releases have very audable beats... I mean if your gonna throw thinner releases in to ambient then you might as well throw that arial b info I posted in to techno into ambient... lets face it thinner relases are for the dance floor and not beatless there for dance floor oriented music is not ambient... so if you change your mind let me know and Ill throw it back into techno/house as Im sure the folks in ambient are not overly interested in thinner releases like the folks into techno or house...

try telling the guyd from thinner that thier music is ambient and youll get flammed so hard from the responce that your eye brows will be singed through your monitor... seriously thinner is dance floor oriented music ....
why do you think they signed me and have mateo murphy, pheek, eloi, dick richards and the rest of the unsigned to force inc minimal techno camp signed to thinner from canada...
I dont know man I really think this is again a matter of defination... when noah and I talked about ambient/dub as a section what i was talking about was not to lump dub techno in with the ambient stuff but rather dub as an ambient genera as it is traditionally refered to in music theory thought. any how you want it in this forum leave it here but honestly youll get much more responce to your thread about thinner releases in the techno/house fourm... to each thier own I guess...

soft pink truth are amazing they are actually one half of matmos with some friends from the SF bay area. thier vanity 6 cover is awesome... but I dont know if I would call what they do so much eletro as it is electro or 80s synth booty pop influnced... their full length record is amazing ... you can find most of the matmos material around its equllay interesting more on the techno/house and idm tip.... but the best material by these guys comes as vague terraine on piehead records its all thier gay porn sound tracks amazing stuff... on note matmos are the guys behind bjorks music on her last few records which is how soft pink truth got the remix.... :)

heres some good news for the new year

Techno dj/producer Aril Brikha will be releasing a new album consisting of 7 to 10 new tracks on Derrick May's Transmat label in 2004. The 25 year old Iranian born, Swedish based impresario's career took off when he sent demos to out-of-state labels including Derrick May who immediately snatched 'The Art of Vengeance' EP and was playing the 'Groove-La Chord' track everywhere.
Brikha was influenced by europoppers Depeche Mode, Front 242 and Jean Michel Jarre as well as the futuristic sounds of Robert Hood and Underground Resistance. 'Groove-La Chord' has been featured on compilations like Body & Soul NYC Volume 3 (Wave Music) and Mixer Presents Slam in America (DMC Publishing) appealing to both techno and house DJs.

Brikha's last album entitled 'Deeparture in Time' was also released on Transmat. One of Aril's new and unreleased tracks has recently been featured on Singapore's club Zouk 'Rhythm1' compilation, mixed by its resident DJs Aldrin Queck and Jeremy Boon. Aril Brikha has played live at Detroit's DEMF as well as London's Fabric and will start off the new year with a tour in Canada and then Asia towards the end of March.

what hip hop djs suck my left wang dong to be honest with you turntablism interests me some what... but not even from a hip hop perpective...
hip hop in a club setting for me never really did it for me just like indie rock... its more like a type of music I like to listen to when Im hanging around the house or on long car trips...I have yet to see a good hip hop act or artist live...
well thats not true public enemy and boogie down productions were awesome live but that was part of a generation of hip hop that had a whole othe bent to it today its all about t and a, cars, parting, and hows hardest... fuck that shit is boring...and definatly not any thing that any artist could stand on for any length of time....
I think missy elliot had it donw perfect with her vibe on the under construction record but she lost it again all the glitz and glory is gone to her head like all the rest of the current generation of hip artists...
well for the most part of course ...
I mean like look what happend to snoop dogg hes looking like a gutter rat these days... not to mention when was the last time that dirt bag put out a solo record again???
dont get me wrong there are still great artists out there like
mos def
hi-tek
tailb kweli
black star (def and kweli together)
roots manouva
push button objects
there are others... but yeah I agree hip hop culture is not what it used to be about...
in fact its the one music forum that I always will say bring back the old school vibe for I hate saying it as we should always stribe for some new and better learning from the past but what I would give for a new BDP record...
