(English follows, you damn anglos!)

M'enfin, qui m'aime me suive!

Alright, well I'm desperately looking for a good party in town this weekend. Stereo seems to sucks the big one, and I'm very disappointed to see the Aria closing night slip through my fingers yet another time. I'm thinking of still going to Aria this Saturday, but I can't find updated info anywhere about who is gonna spin (does anyone know?). I think I'm going anyway. Who's with me?

Yeah I guess someone who intentionaly fishes around for younger/older partners would be icky. And yeah, older guys who go for younger women wanna be young forever.

I guess when it happened to me, it was so incredibly out of the blue that it couldn't have been intentional. Yeah, the idea of a breakup was obvious (except for those moments when we thought we'd be each other's Gil Carle and Chloé Sainte-Marie), but you can't stop hearts in love.

I took shitty things from it, and I took brilliant things from it. In the end, was it worth it? If I get past my trust issues (and I think I am), it will definitely have been worth it. The toughest, most effective lesson in self-respect, ever. Through the hard method.

Anyway, time for sleeps. Thanks for your points of view! I shall be checking on all your wits soon enough.

A lot of relationships don't work, and a lot of them have reasons for not working. Just because there are chances you will fail, are you gonna stop your heart from loving each time you meet someone?

I'm Jewish, my current boyfriend is a Muslim. ;) I guess I like challenges.

Now I remember why I don't hang around discussion boards.

Even in the rave community, where people can be so incredibly awesome face to face, it's so easy to be mean when you can't look someone in the eye.

I can see all your points of view as being valid, but to be honest it wasn't like that.

He wasn't my sugar daddy, he wasn't an old perv, and he wasn't bad to look at- actually, he was probably better looking than 85% of the guys on this board. He was 6'3, 200lbs and all muscle, I really mean all muscle. He had broad square shoulders with lovely pecs, a nice manly patch of chest hair and a genuine, lovely smile... until he fell into a depression that stole away most of the time we spent together.

You know what, you're right, it was a mistake to go out with him. The guy had issues, and even though he was in no way a bad person (I honestly believe he has suffered more than me from this unfortunate match, although I did suffer quite a lot), he hurt me really bad and toughened me up to the point where I have trouble giving myself away and trusting my new boyfriend. If there was only one thing I could remove from my life, it would be that relationship and the scars it left me. But at the same time, I learned not to let anyone disrespect me ever again, and not to make excuses for the behaviours of bad boyfriends- they can make excuses for themselves, and I'll be the judge of their validity.

But to think your sister isn't strong enough to face her own experiences and possible mistakes (we all make them, even you), to think her personality isn't bold enough for her to learn valuable life lessons from it, and to assume that you need to do something because she will never be able to take care of herself is, well, condescending and even sexist. A child will never not go near the staircase because you told them they would fall down. They go, they fall down, they remember. That's what life is about. You don't know either what good things she can learn from this man.

What I learned from him was that I'm worth being loved as a person, rather than being used as a sounding board for all the uncertainties of men under 25 years of age. What I learned was that yes, there are men who will treat you like a lady and appreciate your presence every single minute, and that for some rare pearls you will not disappear when hockey night is on, when the guys call for a night out drinking, or when- much worse!- you're down and sad and you need comforting. Yes, there are men who like women just the way they are, with their quirks and insecurities and all those specificaly feminine, "annoying" traits. Men that really know women have learned to appreciate those things, and to understand how they balance them out.

This doesn't excuse any of the bad shit that has happened, but it felt good for a while to be the most unstable one in the relationship. Because boys in their early twenties are impossible. Completely impossible.

So, just a little piece of advice: trust the women in your lives, and I mean your friends and sisters. They're the ones who will be mothers to your children and your friends' children, and trust me, they've got a lot of guts, and strength, and intelligence. And they can take care of themselves.
