actually I had to bail on my booking at on the substansit stage for personal family issue I have to attend to and as a result I cant leave the city this weekend... it rarely happens to me that I have to bail on a booking... it usually happens once a year unfortunatly this is that one time and it happens to be for teknival a real drag since I hooked up a ride and a slot for for same friend on the sub substransit stage (sarcastic) hes still going which is cool but I cant...
but youll be able to find me around I play out around from time to time...

most of the illegal events I did were in toronto.... reclaim the streets (for the last 4 years), gurella gatherings, darkwoods, pomo po po events eventually all this turned into clonk productions where I threw parties legally for 4 years in toronto and 1 year here in mtl (clonk and bleep events)
Im not a big talker and at 35 Im not some kid.. Im sure I have plenty of street cred a lot mor then the thugs Ive encountered....

well thats what happens when a bunch of thugs run a party... and no offence to anyone having thrown many "illegal" events in my time I can tell you that all this internet posting, and press for teknival only spells trouble for this event...
it your event it illegal you tend to want to keep it to work of mouth to keep the heat away...
if you think the cops dont monitor the message boards and mailing lists you have to have your head read... I do wish you all luck in the festival but personally I would do things differently .... just keeping things a little more quite.....is all...

its not any harder to throw a show here as it is in toronto... trust me
I lived in both cities and have been throwing events in both cities for the past 13 years...
I would say its easier in toronto then mtl just for the fact that there are more venues you can get for free and a larger scene so people come out usually and are more willing to pay 15 bucks for a out of towner then they are here in mtl Ive lost more money in 2 events heres this past year in mtl then I lost in 10 years in toronto ...
2700 lost to 2 parties here in mtl as aposed to 800 lost to events in toronto now you tell me which city is harder...

Veggie Rapists
This past weekend a few friends and I decided to go out to eat half of us don’t eat meat and the other half do eat meat, so we decided to take advantage of a place that serves both veggie and non veggie food and went to Mexicali Rosas on Bishop St here in Downtown Montreal (which I have recently learned is part of a larger Candian chain of restaurants with the same name).

We all Sat down and ordered our meals the non veggie eaters ordered Mexican Rolls and A Chicken Burritto, and the veggie eaters (my self and my girlfriend) decided to order a Veggie Burritto and soft shell Veggie Tacos and we would share the 2 dishes between our selfs.

By the time we all poured our selfs a beer and took a swig of our Rousse our dishes came.
The waitress placed each dish down in front of each person saying what it is.
As normal we all began to eat at some point and time we all realized that they some how mixed up my veggie with the chicken and I had eaten chicken for the first time in 18 years and my girl friend had eaten chicken for the first time in 4 years. I was in such shock by the whole ordeal not really realizing what I had done I went to the bathroom and while doing my thing I ended up being sick and puking. When I returned to the table my girl friend had already been talking to the management of the restaurant about what had happened.

What was the response of management: this half assed apology with out any eye contact what so ever and the words: “oh yeah this happens all the time, it’s a mistake that occurs in the kitchen”. WTF so I make a choice not to eat meat back when I was 17 and some dork made a mistake in the kitchen because they are not sensitive or respectfull of other peoples life style choices and management cant even give me a proper apology.
I mean what if I was allergic to chicken and eating chicken could have killed me, would the manager shrug his shoulders and go dam that’s to bad????

Any how whats my point in all this BOYCOTT this place never eat there especially if you’re a veggie as they just don’t give a shit about you at all!!!!!!!!!!!!

well I have to say that mtl is not all that far behind..,... way to many people who are "djs" in this city and not nearly enough respect for the live folks here...
kind of pisses me off since a live pa is totally hard to do and a good one is even harder

well the unfortunate thing is in toronto every one is a fucking dj its a joke there...

thats becasue drum and bass and jungle is dead in toronto the scene there more or less died a few years ago...
most of the kids got into hip hop that were into that scene and few of them into house
the rest got replaced by eletro and a reasurgence of hard banging techno, psy trance and progressive
makes me what to puke!!!
luckly the minimal techno and deep house scenesters stayed true to the music but these events went totally under ground... same with whats left of the drum and bass scene there smaller events... in smaller venues...
