recorded live at the music gallery in toronto canada during the spring of
2002. this live pa by montreal canada's very own naw aka neil wiernik,
features a rare live performance of naw's more experimental side. using
one of his custom max/msp patches neil's (naw) live performance here
documents the beginnings of his use of his live microsampling from
exisiting cd material by some of his peers and by some of his own personal
influnces. his process results in a fury of granulated glitch micro bite
sound manipluation that some might call a sound track for thoughs with big
ears or as naw him self referes to it "its my interpretation of what a dj
is doing".
neil is currently hard at work on new material to be released on complot
records, worthy records and his follow up full length on noise factory
records due for release in early 2004.

in toronto the larger subway stops have public toilets as do most of the larger parks and there are lots of libaries lots of public places to go to the potty with out haveing to pay with reasonalbly sanatary conditions.

but the reality we are lucky that we live the way we do as in other places in africa, india, asia, central america, south america and even in some parts of europe things are not as pretty...

umm never mind that in most parts of africa and india they dont have clean sanitary kitchens and batherooms like you and I do or use toilet paper.

seb NP I would love to go for jamacian food in my hood with you... st henrie has some real jems in terms of food some great jamacian, korean, sechwan (how ever you spell that) even a few amazing veggie positive places like va et vien which have the best veggie burgers in montreal IMHO or cafe joe with cheapy breakies that are not greasy pits.....

umm bjork did play toronto this last time around she played on olympic island....
same line up same show unless it got cancelled...
but yeah montreal does get dissed alot by the rest of canada but so does montreal diss them back... so its a 2 way street...

hey there are some great ones in st henri
tasties on notre dame and hot spot on st jacque...
they are both amazing spots for a little taste of the islands...
also in NDG there are some great places...

kick me as it was fucking awesome shooting fire cannons and fireworks... it was like kiss with out the make up ;)
highlight was matmos wearing face coverings ....
on stage so no one would know who they are...

yeah tell me about it and I thought toronto was bad its gold compared to the way producers are treated here I wish mtlers would get with it and realise it takes more to do a live pa then play someone elses records... its also way more intersting to watch end joy and dance to then some boring lame dj... there are a lot of great djs out there some are in mtl some arent but fuck man when will people realise that its the producers who make the music for these djs ...

Im 35, and what does it matter if Im a producer (Im not a DJ no offence I leave DJing up to kids like you) and promoture... throw some of canadas most important parties in the last 10 years.. most of them were in toronto befor I moved back to my home town of montreal... and I continued to throw a few here you might have heard of my company CLONK or BLEEP... there were a number of events over the last 12 months at the SAT and other smaller spots around the city... Im also a producer, I make tracks under the name of "naw" (my initals) and have records out on and comming out on such labels as a/s systems, noise factory, ohm/avatar piehead, worthy, subversico and complot. if you need more info on me as an artists you can simply do a google search on me...
"naw neil Wiernik" youll get a shit load of stuff including reviews of my records... hell if your not to closed minded you could probally come out and see me play on the occassion that Im playing out in Montreal which isnt to often I get more bookings out of town then I do locally. but thats another story...
as for st henri being a ghetto you must live in the "bad" part of the hood as my place is a fucking palace... and cheap to boot... st antoine and green... also if you dont like the hood then get out Im sure a lot of folks would love to have your place!!!! go move back to the plateau just dont forget to get your 80s haircut or no one will talk to you... ;)

shes acctually one of very few pop stars out there that has a huge interest in the artistic side of things... rather then making music for cash... I have mad respect for her... always have and always will... this will be my 3rd time seeing here and Im as happy to see her as I was the first time...

its probally ojne of the most interesting areas in the city with out feeling like your smack in the middle of it all.. I mean I guess if I was 20 again (Im 35) I would love the pleateau especially when i ask mommy and daddy to pay my rent and buy my nice clothies for me....so I can go out every night of the week but as you get older your prioities change and you have zero interests int ring to be cool all the time...

hey lay off of st henrie at least its not a peice shit area like the over priced, trendiod plateau... there are also no hookers in st henri it self there are some recently on montian and st antoine but this is not st henri thats like saying the hookers on stlaurnet and ste catherine are in the plateau...
