SG-Universe looks kinda good :)
it just made me wanna reconsider SG-Atlantis, since I found it crappy just by randomly watching a few small bits of episodes... I just grabbed the complete 5 seasons, and although the scripts and acting are much poorer than other stargate stuff, it could be of some interest :)

I also noticed that the storyline of each series begins by the same idea... seriously! The original movie, preceding the SG-1 series, revolves around the discovery of the 7th symbol and a new world (Abidos)... then the beginning of SG-Atlantis is the finding of an 8th symbol, leading to an Ancient abandoned city, in which they go and can't get back from... and SG-Universe begins by the finding of a 9th symbol, leading to an Ancient abandoned spaceship, in which they go and can't get back from...
how original :P

flo

Depends on the job and how you come to deal with it... for some people, being unemployed means doing nothing, partying sometimes but slacking off and getting sucked into the depression cycle: I'm tired of doing nothing, I'm do nothing 'cause I'm tired, I'd like to do something but I'm too tired, I can't even think right because I'm tired and bored of doing nothing, which tires me even more, etc.

For other people (far less common, in my experience), being unemployed lets them free to do just whatever they wanna do, and they get to profit from this situation as much as they can: they do stuff they like, are constructive, meet people, and don't get tired nor bored!

It's the same at work: some people see their job as a tiresome obligation, and if it doesn't require much brains nor muscles, they can tend to get into the same depression cycle as some bored unemployed people.
But other people, not necessarily workaholics, manage to see what their job can bring them in terms of stamina balance, brains/muscles activity, healthy balance for mind/body, regular hours for sleep/meals/spare time, social interaction, etc. This state of mind, from what I've seen, is much more widespread in Montreal than in France :)

hmmmm interesting :)
The thing I liked with Cité2000 is the atmosphere and the profusion of good bands/people/friends jamming there (Ghoulunatics, Buffalo Theory, Voivod, Cryptopsy, Despised Icon, Ion Dissonance, Paroxysm, etc.)
Since I play very loud I'm never disturbed by the neighbors' noise :) but the stench from Molson's factory outside the building is just awful :(

I'm interested in all the info you've got about these places you mentioned (near Bell Center, Parc, Laurier/Masson)!!! :)
I'm looking for a moderately big room, able to handle at least a drumkit, 3 big amps, with some extra room for 3 people to stand up and move freely... if there's enough room for 2 bands (like Cité2000), then it could be even better!

Nathan: yeah I used to jam there 3 years ago :) bands share rooms to reduce rental costs AND because there's almost never empty rooms (it's a great place to jam!). I'm looking for a monthly rent, like Cité2000 does. I'm *not* looking for pre-equipped rehearsal/recording studios, since everybody will have their own gear and I'll want to go hit the drums just whenever I want :)
If you remember/find out something about the place on Iberville below Masson, please tell me about it :)

I'll be needing to rent a place such as Cité 2000 to store my drumkit and to jam with people/bands.

- Have you heard about a room in Cité 2000 which I could rent for a long time (several years?) starting from December 1st (more or less on week)? Sharing it with other bands is ok, as usually done.

- Do you know any other place like Cité 2000 in Montréal? (for jamming, not only storing stuff)

I also remember a Foot Locker on St-Denis when you go downtown from somewhere around Mont-Royal (maybe halfway between Ste-Cath and Mont-Royal, on St-Denis); it was quite small, though (maybe they're only selling shoes...?)

I'm sooo getting a pair of those when I'm back in town :)

*edit* actually the closest stores are in Ottawa and Kingston, so I guess I'll have to find an excuse to go there :)
I don't buy shoes without trying them before!

What is there to do in Ottawa or Kingston, when you live in Montreal (excepted "nothing")?
