I have no idea about whether the French were nicer than the English to the Natives, but the conquest was all French before it was English... for over 200 years, this was Nouvelle France, a huge stripe including Quebec, Acadie, and going down to Louisiane. This is why I was saying that the English "invaded" French territory back then (and the French invaded Native territory before that)


I never said the French were nice and didn't make war... we've had more than our share of colonies all over the world, not necessarily obtained and managed in a nicer way than English ones.


I'm very romantic :) Seriously, just see how French culture has survived for almost 300 years after the "defeat" against the English: this is not surrender to me. Of course it's not bloody guerilla like in Ireland either (thankfully!).

Anglos are the invaders here, not Francos :P A war has been kinda lost, but "French Canadians" (who btw are not all in Québec, and vice-versa) never really surrendered and keep fighting for their rights and culture... so even when they are racist/stupid/uninformed, the context is not the same anyway.

(PS: the situation of Anglos vs Francos is kinda the same as Francos vs Natives, though)

Non pas de yin, c'est "Yang" comme le nom de famille (comme l'autre style "Chen", par exemple). Je te conseille d'essayer plusieurs places avant de trouver ton compte... chez certains c'est très orienté "combat" (presque du kung fu), alors que chez d'autres c'est très orienté "santé" (genre qi gong).

Their Tai Chi is the Yang style, one of the most common styles : slow and round movements (as opposed to Chen style, for example, rather martial, faster and sharper movements). They seem to mix it with Chi Kung, which is a good thing :)

Wing Chun is a style of Kung Fu from which Bruce Lee inspired for creating his own style (Jeet Kune Do)

The only one I tried in Montreal was in YMCA du Parc, and wasn't great... (I practised it near Paris for 3 years and it was most awesome, though; anyways, my teacher has moved back to vietnam)
