if you have 500-1000 $ to spend on it, you can always pay a specialised lab that will retrieve everything in a special "white room" (with perfect moisture/light/magnetic/electric conditions)

or else, you can hope that only your FAT (File Allocation Table) is broken, which means the data is here but you lost the way to get it. It's like a huge book for which you lost the Table of Contents. If that's the case, some softwares can work, such as "PCI file recovery" or "Virtual Lab" (or probably several others). This happened to me about 5 years ago : i lost 80 GB of mp3 i collected for 4 years too.

la belle province really depends on which one you go to ; i've had quite good ones and really bad ones, under the same name but different shit.

la banquise lacks something, imo : too small fries, not tasty enough, and cheese/gravy temperature mix not quite right... i never found it "bad" at la banquise, but i never found it transcending either...
...whereas pipeline, green stop, and lafleur took me to heaven already :P

la banquise is good for the large variety of poutines, but it's not my favourite...

patati-patata is really good :)

my favourite ones are PIPELINE (in the foufounes electriques) and GREEN STOP (on monk / jolicoeur, but it's not exactly what i'd call downtown)

pipeline has a Jack Daniel's sauce which is the best i've ever had ! and their fries are my favourite.
green stop has a very interesting barbecue sauce

otherwise, for a good ol' plain poutine, i think i always hit LAFLEUR and i'm never disappointed !
