gambling is a terrible addiction, and it's horrible what it does to people.

perty accurate, especially this

"The fear that she might be prevented from achieving the things she wants drives her to the exploitation of all types of experience, so that she may categorically deny that any of them has any value. This destructive denigration becomes her method of concealing hopelessness and a profound sense of futility."

Thus, on Nietzsche's view, the fundamental self-betrayal of the human race is to submit its freedom to the ficticious demands of an imaginary god. Afraid to live by the strength of our own wills, we invent religion as a way of generating and then explaining our perpetual sense of being downtrodden and defeated in life.

the vicious circle of catholism.
tell someone they're born a sinner
tell them their god is a loving a forgiving god
give them a list of what is good and what is evil
make the list of evil things include everything that equals life
then tell them that no matter what they've done they can be forgiven

so rather than actually having to decide for themselves if their actions are ones they can live with they "offer up our sins in the hope of forgiveness"

blah blah, blah blah
shake your neighbour's hand in a peace offering and then bang his wife during the week and feel all fine and dandy in your soul after you've confessed.

such hypocritical bullshit

i've always loved nietzsche, even though i don't agree with the idea that there are no moral guidelines, that it's all just "do what you want and fuck the rest" only because i've seen what an attitude like that can do when taken to the extremes.

yeah
i'm not bitter at my up bringing
nah
