anyone going this weekend?

usine c is hosting this particular visual/audio experience for $15. it sounds promising - if you haven't already heard of black_box basically what it is is a show that focuses on visuals and audio to create a living expereince of sound - they've constructed a four-panneled set (a box) that the audience enters where they project visuals onto the surrounding walls.

chek it out:

"Dressed To Kill"

I know it's hard for you
To understand what I'm going through
But now I sit here to remind myself
You're always dressed to kill
And you feel like you owe it to the world
But you owe it to yourself
And you're, you're not here
And I can't stop pretending
That you're forever mine...
And I
I can't dream anymore since you left
I miss you singing me to sleep
I can't wake anymore in your arms
I miss you singing me to sleep
Cheer up my friends all say
You're better alone anyways
But you're always on tour
And you're never home
I'm always dressed to kill
And I feel like I owe it to the world
But I owe it to myself
And you're, you're not here
And I can't stop pretending
That you're forever mine...
And I
I can't dream anymore since you left
I miss you singing me to sleep
I can't wake anymore in your arms
I miss you singing me to sleep
Cheer up my friends all say...
And I can't stop pretending
That you're forever mine
You're better alone anyways
And you're not here, not here
I can't dream anymore since you left
I miss you singing me to sleep
I can't wake anymore in your arms
I miss you singing me to sleep
Cheer up my friends all say...

my father's agnostic, my mom's catholic, i'm neo-pagan and lean heavily on the hindu and egyptian traditions. nothing was forced down my throat as a kid. i came to voudun over six years ago totally by mistake, thus i turned to animism, polytheism, pantheism, in short, if there is a higher being out there, or in here in this body, or in that rock or plant or leaf or in my two shih tzus, or even in spooky or azazel or whoever; i relate to it in the way i choose and i will worship in the way i chose, and quite frankly, if someone demonstrates themselves stupidly i will not hesitate to return the favor.

spooky: kill babies? roast em? eat their young and plump and succulent flesh?

maybe i should go hug a tree or something.

but its always dogma that creates the problem, not the faith itself, not god, or goddess, or satan.

it's stupid interpretation. to be the least tolerent i can right now; stupid interpretation from *cough* potentially stupid individuals.

not to insult anyone here or course. that's just my westernized way of thinking speaking.

not religion, that's dogma.

and if dogma sucks, reject it. if the doctrine works for you GOOD FOR YOU and fuck what everyone else thinks.

now not to insult spooky but his particular beliefs would not exist without the existence of the very doctrine he's railing against. and that was my point to begin with - it's all about polar opposites when you boil it down.

boobie: no one's telling you otherwise.

and that's just the point. what you believe in is your choice (so we'd like to think but that's a matter of how you view reality and the concept of originality or individualism which is an entirely different debate altogehter).

religion as subjective is simply that, form your own conclusions on the universe and act accordingly.

so under the assumption we have technological resources available to us now, does that mean technology is rapidly become the new religion?

religion never 'developed' exactly. ritual was around in the paleolithic, rituals used to assure good hunting, and eventually crop yields once settlements were established. today people like Buckland refer to it as sympathetic magic. "Faith", if you could call it that wasn't initiated for knowledge - it was there out of necessity.
» elixireleven replied on Wed May 7, 2003 @ 10:35pm. Posted in Religon.

this is all extremely subjective.

furthermore, it'd be better if we all made certain distinctions instead of generalizations - my personal belief is that there is no good and evil, right or wrong, good or ungood, whatever polar opposites you can come up with - that exist independantly of each other. everything needs to possess a certain harmony to exist. there may not always be balance, there may be a struggle, but the concept is fundamentally the same - you need one to have the other if in any case these subjectively "true" ideas exist.

now, "religion". we're talking about "organized religion". not faith. not belief. we're talking about dogma and doctrine, and the people or organizations who propagate it.

the dogma and doctrine of any particular religion is a necessary crutch for human kind, why? because very simply we're a weak, scared, easily humbled, easily angered, easily manipulated species of bipedal mammalian creatures who claim they can think and act of their own free volition.

to that i say don't blame religion, don't blame holy books or whatver higher or holier or omnipotent diety(ies) there may (or may not) be. blame yourself. because the end result is still the same, you do not know what comes after this life, the only thing you can be certain is is that yes, you will die. too fucking bad joe blow, you're stuck with that fate... unless of course you want to discuss philosophy insofar as our reality is concerned... but then that'll just support what i said;

subjective. don't blame them. blame yourself. if you are a sheep, wolves will find you and gnaw at your carcass long after you're gone.
