Truth be known: ALL the world's Happy Hardcore is made by only 12 guys, who have more pseudonyms than a shark has teeth, and who churn it out at such a feverish pace you'd almost think that there's probably a program that makes it for them.

One of the big problems I have with reason, other than the interface, is that, in my experience, 90% of the people who pick up reason to make music don't know heads or tails of what they're doing. They don't know fuck-all about synthesis, compression, EQ-ing, levels, mastering, etc.

People can load up reason, with NO experience or knowledge whatsoever of making music, and within 15 minutes they're on their way to making a "good" sounding track without any clue as to what the fuck they're doing. People who, while they may have a very real love for music, are still just producing to be cool. Part of this problem is things like the automatic limiting and the fact that you can't by default bring in much from the outside. 90% of reason users rely solely on refills and soundbanks to make ALL of their songs. They don't samples anything, they don't add any original sounds into it, they don't have a fucking clue wtf they're doing, and they get fooled into thinking they can produce music.

I have the exact same beef with people who think they "produce" using acid. Sure, acid is an amazing too to aid producers, but when your grandfather can pick up acid and a loop CD and think that he's creating music. It's a fuckin' cheat and a false boost in confidence.

And this goes for Dom as well as you Oliver and Eric. You guys put out amazing shit with Reason, but you have a serious love for music. From what I've seen and heard, most of the people who use reason, while they may be "serious" about production, they just don't have the originality and creativity needed to get anywhere with it. It's a fact that Reason does a lot of things like automatic limiting and such that most people don't have the time or want to learn to do properly, and therefor a lot of people just use it because it's a quick and easy ego-boost to say "Hey, look, I just started producing and finnished this amazing track!" with next to no work 2 hours after they start playing around with it.
