i felt that somehow cyber deserved a public eulogy.. someone to step up and say some words in his memory.. i wont even pretend to have been friends with him, i barely knew him, but i know he was a good friend to lots of people on this board... not that somebody should be forced to come out and speak or write if they don't feel like it, but don't disregard, or devalue, the message board by saying it's no place for things like that, i think it's a great place.. it's a communal space where you can step out and say anything you want, be it sad, happy, angry, whatever, and it will not only help you feel better, for having expressed yourself, but might educate others and eventually make the world a better place or something.

i don't know, once again, where i'm going or what i'm talking about.. this is a highly sensitive matter, but as such, i don't think it needs to be swept under the carpet or anything. big love to everyone out there, past, present and future, postivity, hope, perseverance, all that shit for real.

first of all, this thread mirrors the kinda fucked up nostalgic mood i'm in today.

on the other hand, i only discovered ravewave in late 2000, maybe 2001, when i first starting promoting events and shit, and figured it would help. thru boards like ravewave and memf, i ended up meeting lotsa great peeps who over the years have become some of my closest friends.

like many of the original members of this board, the vast majority of my longtime friends (highschool friends, neighbourhood friends from when i was growin' up) no longer go out to parties, no longer have any interest in things like DJing, or weird-ass music, have jobs, wives, houses, mortgages, and all sorts of shit.

it's fucked up. I'm in a really fucked mood today for some reason (tooo much beach boys, perhaps)... but when i started partying there was virtually no such thing as the internet -or at least not to me and my circle of friends. who knows what that means for today's scene.. i think it allows for the creation of sub-families, larger groups of people working off the beaten path, attending parties that are cheaper to promote, and can therefore afford to be riskier, innovative, and present sights and sounds that may not appeal to the lowest common denominator, parties for the fucking hardcore.

anyways i'm totally insane today. don't know where i'm going with this. Maybe in ten years we'll all look back at TODAY, at what's going on now, and we'll be the participants in some great movement that ends up sweeping the globe. fuck shoot me in the head now... SHOULD BE EDITED BY DJ KARL MARX

21st century dub, with old school dub vocal flavours, versions, really minimal, amazing shit, is Rhythm & Sound.. they do releases on CD and vinyl for Basic Channel, co-produced by the fodfather of minimal techno, maurizio... kinda like maurizio's classic m1, m2, m3, etc. releases, but even more minimal and dubby, and most tracks have vocal versions... neil can vouch for 'em too i'm sure, but check this shit out, anyone interested in jamaican dub...
