yeggs benj, that's the real question. i dont know the answer.

we should also give a big thanks to the vinyl staff and management for putting up with our madness last week, we totally reorganized their entire sofa and chair plan, practically creating a cuddle puddle in the middle of a martini lounge, rhys wandering around in his socks as addy dropped golfball sized chunks of m&m's into people's drinks. i wonder if they've ever seen that much orange juice ordered in a night before. never mind the retarded music taylor was dishin out. wow. that was truly a religious, memorable, amazing night, thanks to all that came and took part

first off i wanna thank all who came out, i dont think i'm alone in saying that
a) i got fucking wasted and
b) love that spot. wood panelling, illest sofas in town... wicked dark lighting, love the lock-able chill rooms with toilets in them. or wait, are those the toilets? friendly staff. terrace for fuming.
c) i really enjoyed the music all night, bliss and jasmine both blew me away. babe ruth the mexican anyone? as usual bliss owned with a whole bunch of retardedly twisted bootlegs, dub shits, breaky-ness, and got it goin pretty live and loud for the lounge ambiance... i also had a shitload of fun playing, so nice to play without the ephemeral demands of a dancefloor (* dork**)

uhh ya so thanks to everyone that made this a really fun night for me!

cankered meat pile

first, we pluck the seed pods from the datura plant. then we crush the dried seeds into a grainy powder. the powder is then dissolved, in generous quantities, in a large bowl of fruit punch. then we pour copious amounts of appleton rum into the punch. then we stir it up, and invite many "friends" over.

then, we leave the room. with the cameras rolling. and lock the doors. eventually, people will try to jump out of the windows, but that's okay, it will make for some good footage.

welcome to cankered meat pile, the human datura experiment, where death is the only way out. other than the window. it's the second story, so actually, leaving by the window, you'd probably break a limb or two, or three, but you probably wouldn't die.

cankered meat pile. saturday october 29th. be there, or continue to live the rest of your life in relative sanity. w/ DJs Corey K, Kilobyte, Mr. Vain, Shikkadance, Karl Marx, Chilly Willy, Sarcastic, Freebass and Pastor Vinyl Stephenson. and maybe Toltech.

mssg me for details.

Mickey Mental is Michael Swenti, he promotes now for 1234 DeLaMontagne i believe... he used to play out sometimes also as a techno DJ, was instrumental in building solid tech nights at Sona (Fridays) and with the Arrival parties)... as a promoter i don't believe he reps tek anymore at all. sadly.

Regimental is Reggie. he's a junglist, MC, DJ and lifelong trance h8r. heheheh.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 13th... mix thursdays present TAG TEAM NIGHT volume 1
we've lined up three sick tag team combos for ya'll, should work really well

GALAKSY (in da jungle, freak addiction crew)
& BASS FACIAL (beat concierge)

-a tag team between two of city's illest DnB DJs, the well established iDJ rep. GALAKSY and the upandcomin BASS FACIAL who's been turnin heads with sets at KO, solid mixing and tight tekky selections for the heads

DJ TIPSY T (drunken midget)
& PINKY 38 (planete break)

-definitely an interesting combination, the only thing these two have in common is the BPM or their sets: around 130-135.. oh ya, also, they're both solid DJs who play FUNKY-ass shit. With Pinky supplying the breaks, and Tipsy supplying the 4/4 (usually)... who knows what'll happen. I have a feeling both of them will pull out all the stops, playing into their partners' style, and eventually ended up covered in fluorsecent chop suey, frolicking naked on the ceiling of saphir dripping gelatinous pleasure-ooze onto the blown heads and into the exposed inner brains of the mix thursday faithful.

FISHEAD
& [tobias c. van Veen] [ www.controltochaos.ca ]

-In the early 90's Fishead made his mark in the Winnipeg underground as the hardest of the hard, destroying turntables for the likes of Addict, Ele_mental & the Drop Bass Network. He began writing for Massive Magazine and was soon sharing Hardcore Editor duties with Doormouse. He has since gone on to annihilate the status quo at events across North America and worldwide. Uncompromising mixes such as the split-cassette with Venetian Snares entitled "Eat Shit and Die" are etched in many a demented memory. As a DJ he is capable of playing just about any style. Or styling any player. He cuts, flips & juggles tracks at a mindnumbing rate and attacks the turntables with an unadulterated fury that must be seen–& heard–to be believed. He currently resides in Montréal, Canada. In his spare time he works in the music industry, scouting talent and distributing the goods... [tobias c. van Veen] is a renegade theorist & pirate, techno-turntablist & writer (Montréal/Vancouver). Since 1993 he has directed conceptual and sound-art events, online interventions and radio broadcasts. Djing for over 10 years, tobias' style is marked by the cut-up & non-linear mixing styles of future techno & house: Detroit, minimal, dub, glitch and acid. Spin that through the regional markers of context & the application of concept (masochism, atmosphere, ritual). His Dj sets have appeared on [ BetaLounge.com ] Burn.fm, NoType's Bricolodge and [ Techno.ca ] and his skills have graced events worldwide. As a digital musician, tobias has a 2005 album on and/OAR with tomas phillips entitled If not, winter. An article discussing his experimental work with turntable scripts appeared in Leonardo Music Journal 13. His work has appeared in CTheory, EBR, Bad Subjects, Leonardo, FUSE (contributing editor), e/i (columnist), the Wire, HorizonZero and through Autonomedia, among others. His writing has been translated into Spanish, Lithuanian and French and his art disseminated through [ Rhizome.org ] [ Javamuseum.org ] [RRF-->XP], Kunstradio & CiTR. From 1993-2000 he was Direktor of the sonic performance Collective on the West Coast and co-founder of [ technoWest.org ] and [ thisistheonlyart.com ] He currently hosts The Upgrade! Montréal and is Concept Engineer at the Society for Arts and Technology. Tobias is a doctoral candidate in Philosophy & Communication Studies at McGill University. His dissertation is on the political and its encounters with digital culture. He also mixes a mean absynthe martini. His blog resides at: [ [ quadrantcrossing.org ] ] & his work is archived at : [ quadrantcrossing.org ]

Word on the street is that fishead won't be around much in the future, this may be your last chance to hear him. Fishead has long been one of my favourite Montreal DJs, and has had an significant impact on the Canadian electronic scene at large through all of his various endeavours (^^^) whether in Montreal or in Winnipeg. ravedave, charles iznogood got on the decks around 7 (playing hardcore/DnB fucked up shit with really weird samples). missinnocent played until 3. mistoleum and toltech tagged until about 4:30, then mistoleum left and toltech was tagging with sarcastic.

ya well i cant say i was suprised considering that when Slobodan played at the chill nobody came, and that event was actually promoted heavily. it's unfortunate but only a very small crowd of people, mostly DJs producers or total nerds ( :) ) really like pure techno anymore in montreal, and they're not the type of people that do pills and dance until 8 in the morning. in all honesty, i dont think 95% of the "party scene" even knows what techno is.

le chill is a decent space, not tooo far from downtown, with decent sound and an adequate mixing booth, but it's really not suited for a techno party, the psy art is a little too much for boring nerdy techno people, it's way too bright in there, making people uncomfortable and scared to dance. all of this would have mattered if people had actually come, but the chill's been around long enough now so that people no what it's about. it's unfortunate. anyways.. oct 21st, iznogood promises that he's gonna redeco the place so that it's completely brutal.

thanks for coming out those that did.
