Yeah, it's that time of year again and you know what that means, boxing week sale! But first, the last few things to come out in 2003:

[DRUM & BASS]

D.Kay & Rawfull - Be There 4 U Remixes on Freak.
It's about goddamn time! Forgive the blasphemy, but we've been waiting for these remixes for almost 6 months now. Both sides of this record will bring a tear to your eye, as label-boss Dylan 'longside his bride Robyn Chaos take the tune to a whole new intensity. While the one and only Concord Dawn trance it up as only they can for their remix on the flip. Don't sleep on the tune of the year...makes a great stocking stuffer.

Baron - The Way It Was/Redhead on Virus.
Ed Rush & Optical like this guy, so that means that you have to. I don't care what you heard about his shit being too bouncy or cheesy...it's on Virus man, and that means you have to get it, got it? Good.

Friction & Nu Balance - Robocop/Slipstream on True Playaz.
This one's a little late, sorry 'bout that. Friction teams up with longtime partner Nu Balanca and delivers on of the biggest dancefloor smashers of the year. The robocop samples may be a wee bit overdone, but the bassline kills nonetheless. Flip for a nice deep roller.

If you haven't seen BAD SANTA yet, then you are a fool. Go see this movie. damn....

Ok so.................

Once again I'm afraid I'm going to be the bearer of bad news. Marcus Visionary will not be playing this week. I wish I could give you a reason, but unfortunatly, I don't have one. All I can ask is that you understand it was completely out of my control. I apologize especially because this is the 2nd time this has happened. I don't know if we will be rescheduling this, if it does happen, it will have to be in the new year.

Thanks for your time,

Did someone say CSI: Las Vegas? There isn't a CSI LAS VEGAS! Unless they made another one, there's only the original one and the Miami one with David Ca-fucking-russo.

ok ok ok, I promise this is the last shipment this week....maybe.

[DRUM & BASS]

Optiv + Bulletproof - Camouflage/Black Cell on 1210.
This reacord has a special significance for me and a few of you out there. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the record is in, after what seems like 2 months of me trying to get my hands on it! So start crying tears of joy and get ready, cuz Camouflage is here...and it's here to stay.

V/A - The Consequences Of Relying Upon Outdated Mythology EP on Obliterati.
I mentioned this little double-pack yesterday in the Ohm Resistance review, and that's because this is a new sub-label from those boys. In case you haven't figured it out yet, this shit is not for the faint of heart. This is about as hard as it gets before it stops being drum & bass and starts being something else...like Alec Empire or somethin'. Must be heard to be understood, and here's a tip: You aren't ready. Tracklisting:
Submerged - Let Your Body Take Control
Impulse - Skullfuck
Temulent - Ch'i Reshape
Quoit - All Up In That Shit
Submerged - Bushwick Houses

Fugees - Ready Or Not (2003 RMX).
Can you believe it? Yes I am that good! I have found ANOTHER distributor with a few remaining copies of this very in-demand record. Zinc updates his classic remix and murders all soundboys. Also contains the original bootleg remix.

Ok, see you later.

Once again....

[DRUM & BASS]

Special Forces - Satisfy/Dirty on Metalheadz.
Goldie simply won't stop. The latest single on his legendary Metalheadz imprint shows us yet again why it's still on top and always will be. Enlisting the skills of Rupert Parkes AKA the one and only Photek, going under his Special Forces guise, you know it's going to be tight. It's been quite a long time since Photek made an appearance here but it was well worth the wait. Hot Hot Hot.

Drumsound & Bassline Smith - Get Through (Distorted Minds RMX)/Vicious on Technique.
Massive remix from the dynamic duo Distorted Minds...my pick is actually the flip, 'Vicious' hits the dancefloor head on with it's "you..are...vi...cious" sample and 'champion sound' style stabs.

Shy FX & T Power - Ra on Ebony Dubs.
Volume 2 in the series finally emerges, and as a one-sided bouncer called 'RA!'. The boys keep it simple this time 'round, dropping in the sample "by the power of Ra!" at the drop and it's all bass from then on. Bounce Bounce Bounce!

Stare/Noisia - Sunkist/Runnaway (Stare RMX) on Blindside.
Big up all Estonia massive! Stare drops partner Phibbs for the second twelve inch on their label and comes correct. Side a is funky disco vibes up the ying-yang, while the remix on the flip is pure tech-step. Excellent balance makes this the perfect record for enthusiasts of either style.

DJ Hazard - Ready 4 This EP on Ganja.
I'm going to have to apologize twice for this one. Once for telling some of you that it wasn't coming in this week (I didn't know i swear!), and the second time for the fact that I definetly didn't get enough of this INSANE double-pack...and will surely sell out. I promise to get more next week if you miss it. Tracklisting: 'Ready 4 This' feat. White Apache, 'Nothing Special', 'Enuff Iz Enuff', 'Hold It'.

Distorted Minds - Ouch feat. MC Foxy on D-Style.
Coolest record sleeve of the week award! Once again Distorted Minds deliver a winner, this time featuring MC Foxy's classic "Ouch!" sample 'longside DM's twisted basslines. Also features a Drumsound & Bassline Smith Remix on the flip.

Mindscape - Lightfall/Superfluous on DSCI4.
Have you figured it out yet? This label consistently drops bombs! Get ready for the Battlefield LP people.

Ohmwreckers Resculpted - Part Two of Two on Ohm Resistance.
If any of you were lucky enough to get the 'Dirty Bomb' then you know this label means business, American style tech all the way baby! First up is the Submerged VIP of Accela's 'Lost Highway' and on the flip comes Process with 'Fascination'. Get ready people, cuz tomorrow you're going to see what's next from this camp...I'll give you a hint, it's called OBLITERATI.

DJ Hype - In Sessions EP on True Playaz.
My fingers are getting fucking tired man. Here are the choons: Mutha Fukkka feat. MC Fats, Peace Love And Unity RMX feat. MC Fats, Hands Up feat. Spikey T, True Playaz Vibe feat. Swazigirl and DJ Daddy. Vocals running all through this soon to be classic double-pack, runnin'.

DJ Friction - Torture Chamber/Defcon One on Renegade Hardware.
As voted by the Knowledge MAgazine Awards, the Best Breakthrough DJ of the year Friction drops some of his heaviest work yet on the Best Label of the year Renegade Hardware. Prepare yourself for big stabs and big bass, this record does not mess around.

Various - ULTRAviolence EP on Violence.
As we wait and wait for Hive & Keaton's 'Bring It On' to drop, we are first teased with this vicious comp of worldwide talent. USA's finest Hive & Gridlock team up for 'AC/DC', while Colorado's own Echo drops his 'Danger Girl Remix'. Dieselboy's partner in production Kaos & Expanse bring us an amen smasher in the form of 'Machine Language' and last but not least Fierce & Keaton remix Hive & Juju's 'Headhunter'. Dark as fuck.

Until next time (tomorrow that is....)

Peace,

I don't know what to tell you this week....shitloads of records on the way...here's a taste:

[DRUM & BASS]

Skynet - Silverback/Choke on Skynet Recordings.
The legend returns with his 3rd release and @#%$ just just keeps getting better. Skynet has already started up 2 more new labels just to keep up with all his tunes and the talent he's signing. Both sides of this record are full of dark-tech and carry a very deep moody vibe...check it out.

Clipz - Funk Physics/Saigon Killa on Full Cycle.
After the success of his last single for FC 'Trumpet', up comes the bounce of 'Funk Physics'. Another hit for the man who shakes all dancefloors with simplistic drums and creative wobbly basslines, this guy has definetly brought back the jump-up sound in a whole new way.

Technical Itch - Soldiers/The Green on Prenetration.
Number 11 in the series and, big surprise, Tech Itch slays the whole crowd. MC Jakes features yet again on 'Soldiers' saying all sorts of cool @#%$ you can't understand, but who cares! Tech Itch finally got the balls to not censor the titties on the record sleeve, yay for Manga!

Beta 2 & Zero Tolerance - Give It Up/3rd Bass on Commercial Suicide.
If you've been paying attention to these Irish wonders then you know what to expect, DUB, and of the highest order. Not since Zero Tolerance's 'Natural Selection' have I been so moved by a single tune. Think about it, Tee Bee, Klute, Digital, Total Science and Marcus Intalex can't be wrong!

Monkey & Large - 241/Destruction on Outbreak.
After recordings smash after smash for Gain & G2, these guys don't @#%$ around when it comes to their debut on Dylan's Outbreak Recordings. Strictly hard ass @#%$ on both sides of this one.

Stranjah - Coup D'Etat/Dronez Part Deux on Version.
Toronto native and soon to be worldwide d&b sensation Stranjah launches his new label with two dubby monsters and well, I'll let you guess how nice it is.

Greg Packer - Groove Me/Soul Weekender on Big Dog.
Australia native Greg Packer comes with the second release on his own Big Dog Recordings....woo hoo.

[BREAKS]

Slyde - Krunk/That's It on Finger Lickin'.

Jean Jacques Smoothie - Keet It Movin' feat. MC Chickaboo on Plastic Raygun.
Contains: JJ's Ritzy Disco Mix, Album Mix, Vandal RMX, JJ Ritzy Disco Dub.

Mr.B VS Audio Species - Next School/Vigi RMX on StreetWise.

Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl (Breaks RMX) on Hacker.

McMillan + Tab - Above The Clouds/Evil 9 RMX on In-Flight.

More new stuff in tomorrow AND thursday.....oy vey!

Sorry once again for the problems last week, we hope you had a good time with our last-minute replacement D-Region, he certainly did.

This week Marcus Visionary will indeed be in the hizzouse. As mentioned before, he's recorded for a million labels like: Vinyl Syndicate, Flex, Dub 2010, Oscillate, Huslin' Beats & On Point, as well as his own Visionary Recordings.

Marcus will be spinning a special one-off set just for us this Thursday December 18th @ Saphir 3699 St-Laurent, alongside residents Sase One & Corey K.

Doors open around 10:30pm

Due to blah blah blah, Marcus Visionary will not be playing this evening, however he will be playing NEXT WEEK....Thursday Dec.18th
I'll be starting a new thread for that one.

But don't worry! This week will still be off the hook....know why?? We found a last-minute replacement....

D-REGION [Furious Records, Toronto]

For those of you who know, 'The Reeeg' as he's known to his friends (and enemies) has been tearing the roofs off nite clubs for many years. You may also know that he's got an ass- kicking label called Furious Recordings (keep your eyes peeled for the new Stare & Phibbs!). He's also the man responsible for that wikkid Beyonce/Sean Paul bootleg that's been tearing up the place.

So yes, he's our guest....tonight.

Another very solid week for d&b here at DNA, all high quality releases and for some reason there is still 1 copy left of Ed Rush & Optical's limited edition one-sided bootleg remix of 'The Message' from last week! What's up with that? You guys are SLEEPIN'! Fix-up.

[DRUM & BASS]

The Militia - Weight Gain EP 1/2 on Cargo.
Confusing indeed...this EP was supposed to be a double pack, but for some reason it has been released as two singles, part 1 and part 2. The first one here contains the MASSIVE 'Weight Gain' alongside the vicious '1999'. In case you didn't know yet, The Militia comprise of Stakka, K-Tee, Skinny & Friction.

The Militia - Weight Gain EP 2/2 on Cargo.
I think I figured it out, Stakka realized that this shit is so hot he could easily sell these 4 tunes as 2 seperate 12's and make more money. Well he's right....they rock. This single contains the highly anticipated 'Brainwash Remix' as well as 'Thrill Seeker'. YOU BASTARDS!

Le Lutin - Future Mashup (Keaton RMX)/Pressure Rize on Metaphor.
The ball is officially rolling, as local hero Spinal & France's biggest junglist Lutin drop the 3rd release on their own Metaphor imprint. After Kontrol, Friction & Nu Balance gracing their imprint, they now enlist the skills of the mighty Keaton of Usual Suspects & Universal Project fame, to remix Lutin's massive 'Future Mashup'. Sounds like Dillinja to me! And you know what that means...dancefloor mayhem!

Ray Keith feat. Alexandra & MC Navigator - 'No No' The Remixes on Dread.
Whew! Double-pack of vocal d&b for all the ladies. Features the original 'No No' which has been out for some time, as well as 3 remixes. The D9 Remix marks the return of the 'Ray Keith & Nookie' partnership that has been gone for some time. Vancouver's own John Rolodex rips it up as well, and Danny C aka Twisted Anger comes correct with his own interpretation of this classic.

Fugees - Ready Or Not (2003 D&B RMX) on white.
We sold out of this last week, and i've got a few more copies of this instant rewind in stock. Also features the original bootleg d&b remix from back in tha day on the flip.

Various - The Drum & Bass Fiesta Remixes on V.
Drumsound & Bassline Smith turn Danny C's 'Happy Hour' into a jump-up smasher, while Artificial Intelligence take on Sonic's 'Make Me Wanna'.

Sonic & Silver - Space Cadet/Road Movie on Space.
Another successful release from Sonic's solo label, this time teaming up with partner in crime Silver. Space Cadet is just that, completely beautiful soundscapes with a shiny disco vibe. Solid.

As usual there will be more stuff in tomorrow...so check back...check often!

Sorry, this post is a little late, here is shipment #3...what's left of it...

[DRUM & BASS]

Dieselboy & Kaos - Barrier Break/Submission on Human.
Oh fuck, if you haven't heard Stabba screaming about this tune for the last month then you must not be friends with him or something...why aren't you friends with him anyway? He's a nice guy....really. 'Barrier Break' contains one of those famous "slow-downs" during the second break which absolutely destroys any party....for big raves only!

Kaos + Karl K + Jae Kennedy - Moonraker/Studio 54 on Human.
Two releases at once for Dieselboy's 'Human' imprint. That Dieselboy....wow, i know eh? he's so hot right now...These 2 tunes are dope whether you are into tech-step or disco-funk shit...and at 11.99 both these singles are a steal.

Bad Company - Bullet Time EP on BC Recordings.
Sold out of this one pretty quick last week, so here's some restock for you...contains the MASSIVE set-opener 'Bullet Time' along with D-Bridge's super-heavy 'Womb' as well as 'Street Walker' and 'Stay Tuned'.

Rawthang feat. Kari Rueslatten - Scorned/Benjie - AI (Rawthang RMX) on Black Sun Empire.
Whew! I don't know if we have enough super hard anthems in this week...maybe we should get more. Ok i'm joking. These guys invented the super-hard-tune-with-a-screaming-angry-girl-vocal-thingy...and this one is just another fine example of their mastery of dancefloor destruction....they also rip Benjie's 'AI' to shreds and then stab you to death with the pieces.

Dune - Back Again/Tribed Out on White.
Also known as the last thing Double A ever produced before quitting the d&b scene. 'Back Again' is the notorious one here, taking the Jackson 5's 'I Want You Back' and dropping a bodyrock style shuffle-beat on top of it. The flip is definetly my pick, 'Tribed Out' takes the vocal from ATCQ's 'Stressed Out' and turns it into a smooth d&b roller...one for the ladies.

Debaser - My Sound Rule/Get Red on Press-Up.
Once again, back in stock after huge demand. Pressed on clear vinyl, this guy is the latest rudebwoy to hit the toronto ragga scene and he is blowing up! Absolute mash-up bizzness on both sides, filled with classic samples and ripping amens...a must have for all new skool junglists.

M-Beat - Incredible/Sweet Love/Watch It on Renk.
You are looking at 3 of the most classic jungle tunes in history right now. If you don't know about 'Incredible' featuring the stunning vocals of General Levy then you need to go back to school. 'Sweet Love' takes Toni Braxton's classic vocal and creates instant madness, definetly one for the ladies. 'Watch It' features the inimacable Mellow Vocalist and must be heard to be appreciated.

M-Beat - Style/Rumble on Renk.
Another huge pair of tunes from the one and only M-Beat crew. Miss at your own risk.

That's it for this week...whew!

Once again...

This Saturday December 6th 2003
@ O Patro Vys 356 Mount-Royal East
10pm-3am

Featuring DJs:
Soundshaper
Corey K

On 4 turntables!

An exploration of Drum N Bass and Break Beat , as always presented in a futuristic and surprising form.

Soundshaper handles the breaks side of things, on a more deep and dark vibe...while we slowly progress into an eclectic mix of dubby and organic drum & bass. Usually finishing off the night with deep tech-step.

Basically I'll be playing lots of Klute, Matrix, Calibre [ etc...com ] check it out for something a little bit different and alot more emotional.

Don't forget to check out In Da Jungle after!

Peace!

The master of puppets bootleg is sold out...sorry!

Ok so as promised, here is shipment number 2:

[DRUM & BASS]

Adam F & DJ Fresh - The Original Junglesound EP on Breakbeat Kaos.
Once again, these boys are at the top of their game and have given us another dancefloor smasher. Adam F takes the first record with 'Original Junglesound' and giving us 2 mixes to play with, the Switch Mix and Bluenote Mix. Then comes the Bad man himself Fresh. 'Foreigner' has been on dubplate since you were jerking off to the Sears catalogue, and 'Rock Demon' just fucking rocks. Get it now...or suffer the consequences.

Various Artists - Hardware Chronicles Vol.2 on Renegade Hardware.
First up on this dirty little double-pack is Dylan & Friction's 'Infected Spirit' which has that classic hard sound that RH is known for. After which Total Science come hard with 'Positive Thinking', nice one. Bad bassline twister Raiden alonside Flow drop 'Pigalle', which is probably the highlight of this EP, and the whole thing wraps up with 'Murder Style' showcasing yes another of DJ Kontrol's many styles.

Various Artists - The Rumba Sessions EP on Movement.
This one will have to have the tracklisting speak for itself. If you've heard any of the other releases that have helped make Movement a household name in the UK, then you know what to expect. Contains:
Ruffstuff & LJ - Soulshine (Shimon RMX)
Ill Logic & Raf - Lost In This
Artificial Intelligence - No Return
Addiction & Danny C - Feel It (Peshay RMX)

Once again, don't forget to check this thread tomorrow as we will be receiving yet another shipment later on in the day...and it will be the biggest one yet!

I'm really sorry to have to do this during "rent week" but we've got a pretty crazy week ahead of us here at DNA and there are not one, not two, but THREE shipments of d&b coming in this week....please don't be mad...but here is the first:

[DRUM & BASS]

Bulletproof + Concord Dawn + Optiv - Scorched Earth (Kemal RMX)/Concord Dawn - Tick Tock on Cyanide.
At Long last, it has arrived. Just in case you think you can put one of these aside, here is an example of a phone conversation being had between you and me concerning this record:
RING RING RING
ME: "DNA Records, how may I help you?"
YOU: "Hi Corey, it's (insert your fool-ass name here)"
ME: "What's up?"
YOU: "Not much, I was just wondering, you know that new Kemal RMX you just got in?"
ME: "Yeah?"
YOU: "I was wondering if you could put one aside for me"

Some very good tunes in this week. Along with the new vinyl, I will be listing some classic 2nd hand tunes that are available at crazy discount prices...

[DRUM & BASS]

Jonny L - Geronimo/Super Bionic (feat. Guitaminator) on Piranha.
This tune sold out so quick last week I didn't hear the end of it. So stop your bitchin' it's back.

Bad Company - Bullet Time EP on BC Recordings.
The baddest of the bad return. The entire Bad Company crew minus Fresh go back to their roots for some ass kicking ruff drum & bass. Features the awesome Bullet Time (as featured on the Andy C mixed D&B Arena Vol.2), Womb, Street Walker and Stay Tuned.

Capone - Tudor Rose (Shimon RMX)/Fusion on Hard Leaders.
Tune of the week! For those of you who remember the original Tudor Rose you know it would take a producer with balls of steel to try to fuck with it. Shimon is that producer, taking it to another level in a RAM stylee and then some! Absolutely over-the-top madness all over this instant rewind of a record. Oh, by the way, Dillinja's amen masterpiece 'Fusion' (not available since '99) is on the flip.

Motion Theory - Airhead/Bloodstain on Gain.
Do I have to tell you? This label used to make me laugh. I swear! They went from plain black sleeves, to full-colour generic sleeves, to starting a second label (G2) to support the mass amount of tunes they were picking up. Now they're doing proper sleeves for each individual release...selling out of every single and doing all this with virtually unknown talent! I've never heard of Motion Theory and I don't care....I love this tune!

D-Region VS Beyonce feat. Sean Paul - Baby Boy (D&B RMX).
Yeah I know I listed it last week. But I also know that I sold out of it before most of you could hear it. Don't sleep on the hottest bootleg this year. Flipped with a very tastefull remix of Coldplay.

Alloy - Dust/Ghost on Frequency.
I'm not quite sure how one tune can be so melodic and hard at the same time, but this record does it. Definetly on a Klute vibe, this record will make you dance and bring a tear to your eye at the same time.

Lutin feat. 3K - Amdromedia/Octopus on XXX Ltd.
The second in the 2-part series...France's own Lutin comes correct with more new meterial. Since the huge 'Future Mashup' came on his and Spinal's Metaphor Recordings you know this one's gonna be a crowd pleaser. More on the tech vibe Andromedia is the one to check out for sure.

Unknown - Master oF Puppets (D&B RMX).
Ok I won't even pretend I don't know who made this, it's Dylan, as if it won't be obivous. One-sided and very hush-hush, the Napster haters get taken down a peg by the Freaky one. Guess what? It's actually pretty fuckin' good...if you're likin' the heavy metal vibe.

Jaimeson - Complete (Danny Fresh RMX) on V2.
We had this one in a long time ago, and we still rinse it on the dancefloor every single week, so I think it's only fair that we get in stock for those who missed it the first time 'round. Bad Company's Fresh does it again...of course. Get the anthem.

Illogic & Raf - Could It Be/Heart & Soul on Ebony.
The first in a new series from Shy FX's Ebony Recordings. Taking a break from their own Emotif subsidiary Double Zero, Illogic & Raf drop their best yet, smooth deep and a nice thick twisting bassline make this twelve stand out among the boring jazzy d&b we are so used to hearing these days.

[2nd HAND D&B + JUNGLE IN STOCK NOW!]

Raskal & Klone - Delta 9/Hyper Kinetic on Frequency.

Lemon D - I Can't Stop/Change on V Recordings.

Roni Size - Scrambled Eggs/Swings & Roundabouts on Full Cycle.

Breakbeat Era - Breakbeat Era on XL

My words taken "literally" still don't imply sexual intercourse....read it again.

and while you're at it, read this:

[DRUM & BASS]

Basement Jaxx feat. Dizzy Rascal - Lucky Star (Dillnja RMX) on XL.
The latest album from the unstoppable Jaxx has just droppped, and the lead single featuring UK hip hop/2-step sensation Dizzy Rascal is getting the d&b treatment from none other then the mighty Dillinja. Hotness. What more can I say?

Junior Jack - E-Samba (J Majik RMX) on Defected.
Lots of house tunes being remixed into d&b at the moment. The massive, tribal power of 'E-Samba' gets the new skool jump-up treatment from J Majik, wicked little vocal samples and bongos everywere on this one, definetly for the dancefloor.

Typecell/Polarity + Schroombab - Bad Illusions (Black Sun Empire RMX)/Illicit Game on Protogen.
Next up after Kemal's wicked remix for Protogen records comes none other then Black Sun Empire on the remix tip. Thick and minimal drums lace this dark moody number, sounding a bit different then the usual for BSE but nonetheless, comes across really well...definetly for all the tech-heads.

Trinity/DJ Andy - Warp/BOH! on Chronic.
Once again, the Chronic crew bring stricltly bouncy shit, just for the true blunted junglists. Trinity (AKA Dillinja) rinses it out with one his typical rollers, but the real star on this 12 is newcomer DJ Andy. BOH! is just that...you will have to rewind this one. Simple drums tease in the intro right up to the deadly silent drop where out of nowhere comes the vocal "BOH!" and it's all over after that, a sweet amen loop and pounding bass cause instant mass hysteria.

Prizna feat. Demolition Man - Fire/Smokey Joe - Special Request on Labello Blanco.
The jungle tune of all jungle tunes...repressed in all it's glory. FIYAH!!!!!!! Oh yeah, it's flipped with Smokey Joe's unbeatable 'Special Request' on the flip.

dat's it dat's all.
